Aside from changing the name of the subject, I guess I'm bumping this in hopes of more feedback or something. lol.

I might go post links in other forums as well.

Hmm I think the main problem with a player created faction would be, what do you do if the "crime lord" decides he had enough of it and now wants to start a new career as master medic whatever... what would happen to the syndicate and their members? Everything just breaks up?. Don't think many players would like to spend, money time and so on to be a member of a faction just to find out someday that the boss lost the interest and wandered away happily following another career . Despite of this little porblem I like your proposal sounds like it could be fun if you find some "crime lord" to really keep it running.

Awesome idea, Caylin

May I suggesta fewthings that might make this more interesting?

Player Bounties

I want player bounties against smugglers more than anything for being caught with spices or illegally sliced items. Maybe even slicing terminals can be a crime, who knows. This profession can bring that ideato table even farther (player bounties should probably start at NoviceSmuggler) This idea can come in the form of Reputation points. Here's how it possibly could go:

(Names, levels, and bounty rewards are example only)

Note: Player bounties would never exceed Jedi bounties for justified cause. However, it is possible for Smuggler bounties to stack.

Novice Crime Lord
Reputation: Novice Crime Lord.
At this level the Crime Lord is well known among the underworld and black market rings. Hisdirty work has brought him areputable notice to authorities and the like.

(Generates playerbounties ofup to 15,000 if caught by Imperial authorities for illegal items)

Criminal Genius III
Reputation:Syndicate Boss
By this level the Crime Lord has managed to ruffle a fewImperialGovernors and Inquisitors.Thedeath sentence on 12 different systems is nothing to scoff at.

(Generates playerbounties ofup to 30,000 if caught by Imperial authorities for illegal items)

Master Crime Lord
Reputation:Master Crime Lord
Youre on par with Jabba the Hutt and Nym by now. Sector Moffs and maybe even theEmperor would love to have your head if you so much as breath the wrong way.

(Generates playerbounties ofup to 50,000 if caught by Imperial authorities for illegal items)

Hideouts/Palaces

I honestly dont see casinos being all that popular with players. We already have them in the game as hotels andnot a soul canbe found in these places. Player casinos would most likely turn into cantinasanyways. Now, something akin to what Jabba or Nym has, I could see. Maybe not as immense and glamorous, but reasonableenough for criminal syndicates to own and operate from. Placeable onlythe Crime Lord Profession, this could be something a little bit more than a guild hall with a different design. Your 4 basic designs could beimplemented. Generic, Corellia, Tatooine/Lok, and Naboo. Or you could go with something new:

Jungle or Deserthideout/outpost
Features: Perimeter fences - Maximum of 4 turrets - Landing field? - Barracks - Mess Hall - Armory - Mission terminals - Garage - Tavern - Medcenter

Someone once mentioned Hunting Cabins for Master Rangers that could be placed on advanced planets such as Endor or Dathomir. The same could be applied to this hideout/outpost.

Desert castle
Features: Perimeter wall - Maximum of 4 turrets - Multi-level (this would be much like a Tatooine guild hall but with defenses) - Mission terminals

Generic castle
Features: Same as desert castle

Im sure more ideas could be added to these, but this is all I have for now.

Well, more people would be in casinos if there was a good reason to do so, like attaching them to cantinas, and putting more interactive games in them (like sabaac against other players).

Been thinking off and on about this.

Perhaps if it worked very like the politician profession... maybe a player who is also a crime lord could attempt a "coup d'etat" if they are part of the organisation, and have a casino of their own.

If they meetthose minimum requirements, they can go the the major domo of the crime lord in charge and attempt to overthrow the current leader. When that option is chosen, perhaps a voting booth is put into existence in that cantina, and players can vote as to which crime lord they want running the organisation just like a player would for the mayor of their city.

When a coup d'etat is initiated the syndicate members receive an email about the powerstruggle perhaps. Others who wish to compete could also add their name to the process.

Just toying with ideas.

I have never seen to where a crime lord was able to be voted out. Make it to where if you want to take over and you are already a member of the syndicate you go up to the major domo guy and tell him you are taking over. If you have back up they say they are with you on it and the crime lord is told of it. If you can beat the crime lord and the ones that want to keep him in power then you are the new boss. To make things fair once the crime lord and the person that wants to take over decide to fight for it all buffs and armor are gone. Then it is fair and you are careful on who you have and don't have on your side because that rifleman you didn't even try for could be the one that takes out your best fighter in one to two shots. It would also help keep it more real as the original boss would have to die in order for someone to take over. To keep people from griefing this if a person decided to take over and the crime lord or his followers don't answer after say a week maybe 2 then the person is declared the new boss.

The winning side would get syndicate xp and full control over the syndicate. The losing side is booted from the syndicate. To keep people from using this as a way to just get syndicate xp you have it so a syndicate take over can only happen every two weeks to a month. Also if a person fails to take over only that person is kicked out of the syndicate, and let back in they are not allowed to challenge for boss for like 2 months because who wants to trust the loser after that. This way it gives people plenty of time to prepare and plan it out next time they take over and would also keep people from taking over enless they knew they could do it.

To keep people from taking over while the boss is away on vacation or something like that. You make it so the people that wish the current boss to stay can go and fight for him. A normal crime lord wouldn't even soil his hands on scum trying to take over anyway he would have his loyal followers guard him.

Not sure how good these things are right now being it is real late or early depending on how you look at it. I just think a voting system could be exploited to badly because you could have all your friends join the syndicate you want to take over and they could vote a person no one wants boss then ruin a great syndicate.

I LOVE this idea.

I absolutely LOVE it.

I would be amazed to see this happen... it would add so much more content to the game...

Another possible outcome of an attempted Syndicate overthrow would be that the loser of the Battle for Boss would lose all their XP in the Crime Lord proffession and have to rebuild from the beginning of the tree. Thus, adding more risk to the proposal of taking out your Boss.
