Thread: So, is 'guarantee' the new key word for 'power-up slice my weapon'?

Most of the times I get someone requesting a pup slice, the customer has the audacity to actually not say anything, but stick the pups in the trade window along with the weapons.
What I usually do here is as follows.
Accept the trade, wait a sec, as if i were in my inventory and pondering something.
ME: Um, why did you give me these powerups? I slice for credits, not items
EXPLOITER: Those are for you to do your magic, you know what I mean
ME: No, I really don't (although we all know I do, most of us on here know what it's all about)
EXPLOITER: Well, those are for special enhancement
ME: What do you mean?
EXPLOITER: *lays out the entire process, and tells me to just do it and trade back the items and he'll give me a great amount of credits for it*
ME: Thank you for describing exactly how you want to exploit. You are now /addignored and /reported. I will be keeping your weapons. Have a nice day.

before i spent a short time smuggling, i always asked if a smuggler could garentee the slice. that was because when i was a noob, i had my whole stash of weapons i would use to master marksman and bounty hunter that a friend bought for me ruined when a noob smuggler (i didnt know master smuglers had better slices or i would have used one of them) sliced the whole lot without MCs and only 3 of the weapons came out with a success.
after i did smuggler, i understood that every smuggler who is worth their title ether makes or buys their MCs and will not slice without them. locked containers are just to darn expensive to not use them.

Most players do not ever read or post on these boards, and many really don’t know how slicing (or other game mechanics) work. I’ve had lots of conversations with people like that one, it just means they don’t know how the system works.

I don't know, i think because of the lack of action to fix the exploit, many players are just getting down right blatant about their intentions. Example:
Last time I was asked to do a pup slice, i'd just finished up doing several client's weapons. Next guy in line asks in spatial if i'm slicing and what my prices are. I tell him I am and it's 5k. He says OK and initiates the trade window. Window opens, and before he puts anything in it asks *in spatial* "These are for PvP. Will you Powerup slice them? I'll pay double." I told him no and he cancelled the trade.
That's been the most likely scenario for me anyway. This was the only guy who blatantly asked in spatial for Pup slices, but often they've waited until terms were agreed upon and the trade window opened before asking via /tell if i'll Pup slice.

Sorry for smuggling this thread thru the sneaky use of Monty Python. I was only trying to keep things light-hearted as it truly did seem like a little too much presumption and therefore akin to a witch hunt.

Yes, there have been numerous times that I have been asked if I can guarantee success. Upon further conversation in these instances I was told that they heard horror stories of weapons being rendered useless because of bad slices. I of course educated them on slicing and let them know that a good Smuggler uses certain tools that will guarantee a slice and even if the slice failed that their weaponwould be no different than before that it just couldn't be sliced again.
