Thread: everyone go look at my proposal on the GCW forum
Emporer's hand would be good for Dark Force users...
but my proposal is not about the force, or becoming force sensative.
it's about elite training to become a better than average soldier. it works on the same prinicpals as the Force Sensative and Jedi system, but it has different names, themes, and abilities, and it doesn't wreck continuity.

a) There already are Stormtroopers in-game (at least as far as the armor is concerned - everyone can RP them) so it would have to be an elite unit instead of the ST as you've said later.
these would be elite Imperial and Rebel soldiers.
b) End-game professions would only work as a natural progression to normal professions, I'm afraid (like it's done in level-based MMORPGs when they add 20 more levels every now and then), and the skill trees are way too complicated for that I think. If the new professions aren't in a new skill tier above elite professions with elite profession prerequisites (like the elite professions build on the basic ones), a lot of people will feel left out, just as people who don't want to play a Jedi feel left out now.
jedi is an "end game profession" and works on a totally different system. these new "end game professions" would follow that system in implimentation, but be focused on different areas of the Star Wars universe.
c) Errr, what about the "neutral" people? The Underworld and mercenaries of all kinds should have a valid place in the GCW too, since this game world is the GCW.
i had thought about neutral (since i myself am neutral) and i do think this system can work with a neutral alpha-class. i just didn't mention it since i was posting in the GCW forum hehe.
but yeah a neutral "Mercenary" alpha-class prof would be awesome.
Basically, turning one alpha-class into three is not going to save the GCW.
Two "GCW-related" professions wouldn't be enough to "cover" everything people would want to play, and if you're forced to play a profession you don't want to because it's the only way to compete... well, it would again lead to where we are now...
well it's not really two professions. it's more like extensions of your already established professions. the factional alpha-class "professions" would only enhance the skills you already have, plus give you some new abilities, and certifications for new equipment.
i don't think it would lead to where we are now because it would offer more avenues to persue power through.
you could have a pikeman/doctor become an elite Imperial soldier or a pistoleer/rifleman become one. each would still be unique in what they can do, just enhanced further through quests and "training".
If you do the player tutorial it'll become bleedingly (is that even a word) obvious to you that you're force sensitive.
