I think that these "smuggling" missions are in name only, I dont think they are actualy smuggling anything. However, we should respond to this rumor by screaming our collective head off, whining, shouting, raising hell on the boards if only to remind the devs that we have gotten no love from them, and feel like our proffession is one step away from being useless.

My response about the pirate icons made me think...
What if this all really means something. Now wait a minute, let me finish...
YT1300 (iconic Smuggler's ship) available to all "Privateer" pilots...
Smuggler's Alliance available to all "Privateer" pilots...
Smuggling missions available to all "Privateer" pilots...
Smugglers get "Pirate" looking icon for the forums...
What if SOE is making the "Privateer" pilot profession the new "Smuggler" profession, and planning on making the old "Smuggler" profession into a new "Pirate" profession?
Are there any "Pirate"-type missions in the Privateer pilot profession or in the new station missions?
Just something to make you go "Hmmmmmm."

I say scream bloody murder even if these missions arnt about smuggling contraband. Someone needs to poke the Devs in the eyes AGAIN about smuggler love.

What about the Talus missions? As I recall, the Selonian there only speaks with Smugglers. Anyone here gone to TC and checked out whether this is still true?

Well..
Not surprising, I mean they let anyone into the Smuggler's Alliance/Privateer thing. From a JTL perspective they had to call the neutrals something and in this case it was essentially Smugglers. It makes sense from that line of thinking then that any mission terminals you'll find in space will be Imperial, Rebel, and Smuggler.
In order to quell the outrage SOE will leap into action and either:
a) Create a new set of Smuggler terminalswith Smuggler missions to make our profession more meaningful or
b) Rename the darn terminals to "Space Mission Terminal" and shut the Smugglers up.
Personally, I'm not putting much stock in "A" but I'm sure they'll simply rename it and say "Oooooh, no, sorry, these were never "Smuggler" missions - just normal everyday missions.
OOhh, maybe I'm getting to jaded.
