While you were having all that fun did you notice that the slice option is no longer on the armor radial menu?
All of what you have discribed is great and very easy to find on planetside, ut2004, the HL series and even an old copy of Rise of the Traid.
But are you willing to give up the ability to wear any type of armor you want, carry any weapons you feel like just so you can run through a trench? Are you willing to put up with a crappy level system forcing you into uncustomizable HAMM cookiecutter characters just so you can hide behind a rock? Or maybe it's worth having to watch all the stupid effects, that are never seen in the movie and have no place in the game just so you can... wait, I'm out of pluses to banance the trade off. ... And I still have 10 or 12 handfulls of crap to throw... This whole thing is crap, and that's why it will go live. Because that's what you do with crap: You push it out.
The word "crap" does come to mind now that you mention it... I particularly like the fact that you don't even mention that 95% of the armor in the old system was garbage, that you WILL be able to carry nearly any weapon type you want (contradicting your complaint), and that blaster bolts wont PASS THROUGH A GOD-%$#^&*& HILL WHEN YOU SHOOT AT SOMEONE with the CU.
I, for one, and GLAD that trenches will even be useful and that perhaps I might pick up one of these "retarded" guns in game and send you back to a cloner where you get the most foul cybernetic limbs attached to parts of your body, hopefully including your head! You better find a good rock to hide behind ![]()

P.S. Don't take this post TOO seriously. *passes out some beers*

It's amazing how many people forget or just don't know that the GCW was always meant to be the "endgame" of SWG. The current combat system failed this idea horribly.
well it didn't fail it originally, when everyone had noob weapons and/or low quality ones. no buffs, little armor. was a lot like it is now.

LOL!
Oh, I know. But I'm primarily a PvE player. PvP is not my focus at all, though I understand the importance of PvP in the game design.

Gladly those bonuses you mentioned only affect PvE
Thus if you don't want to have a full PvP Template(maybe you like crafting a little bit too) you don't suffer a hard-coded damage penalty against other players just cause you aren't the same Level.
Even so, I do know what you mean regarding the content. The movies were really a very small part of the Star Wars univierse. While they are canon materials, there are other things upon which to draw, including many EU novels and the RPG supplements. The movies should always take priority over EU material, though.
Personally, I like what I see in the CU. I have concerns, but those lie mostly with inoperable specials and other bugs. The only real problem I have with the design itself is the damage bonuses with level differences, but I can see how they might be needed.
For those that are interested (all two of you), the CU is really not as far as I myself would have taken the revamp. I would have revamped the entire game from the ground up.
