Thread: Boycotting JTLS

Two things I want to do in this game: 1) be a smuggler, and 2) fly ships.

If I can do one by purchasing JTL, then I'm in better shape than I am now. Plus, I'll have my Jedi alt to play with in the meantime, though my smuggler will ALWAYS bemy main.

Yea, because the 50 or so smugglers that post saying they will boycott JTL is really gonna make a difference against the 99,950 people who will pre-order it/buy it immediately.

I think you'll find that with their recent decision to put money infront of integrity, that alot of people will not buy the expansion until they fix the core game. I certainly wont. And I've seen these post on every forum. Just check out the anouncement thread. It was well past 25 pages last I checked. Alot of those people are steaming mad and are either cancelling all togetheror boycotting the add-on as the initial poster said. Cant say I blame them.

I won't be buying it...

1. I won't buy something that I know will be badly bugged. I'll wait till the bugs are mostly out.

2. Ships will be a LOT cheaper a few months after release than immediately after.

3. I have NO use for this expansion until the Smuggler Revamp is done...ie. never.

I think that "not buying the exansion" is a good start, but as long as you keep paying your subscription fees, it's a hollow one. A one-time payment of $30-$50 is inconsequential when they're still getting $15 out of you every month.

I agree w/ boycotting JTLS....we need respect and they need to give it to us...also see this http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=smuggler&message.id=104663 post also....the disrespect that SOE has shown its smugglers is down right ridiculous....we are the most polite profession base in SWG and this is getting out of hand.

We need respect that the Jedi and BH's get NOW...not after a major expansion

I'd have to agree.

Only an idiot of a company would release an expansion so close to after the original release.

When all your programmers are working on new content, instead of making the current game you pay for stable, enjoyable, and balenced.

You know something is desperately wrong.

But what can you expect.

It's sony.

They made the $h$TStation after all.

If I were a developer on this game, I would be ashamed of myself if the profession I worked on was broken. Take pistoleer, for example. Most of us have experienced the frustration that comes from having half of our specials inoperative. That means that someone did only half of their job (but got their full pay). That's solely the developer's and programmer's fault. The schedule to fix these bugs is also determined by the lead developer, so I don't buy the argument that the producers are the root cause of the problem.

Understand that all of the work that GreenMarine is doing for Smuggler has been on his own time. He seems to be the only developer with competence and vision, so he gets tasked with every major project. Now, in addition to going back to school, he's taken on the Smuggler revamp, on his own, because he feels our pain and takes pride in his product. Too bad the other developers don't share his work ethic.

By paying $15 a month, we should be getting a new game experience every 3-4 months. Unfortunately, many of us are waiting to play the game we originally paid for.

Of course, if you all boycott the game and everyone leaves, there'll be no expansion an no rebalance...

Maybe you not know the history here or it don't matter. Space was to be in with release back in early part of BETA. They was having problems. To me they was biting of to much to chew at one time. So they droped space for a later time cause if they did not get thegame out there would be no game. So like seems almost the norm, they release a game with its still bad issues with the words "we can update later, that is what makes on line games better". So all along we knew that some day there would be space. Also all along that they will forever be playing with the classes and balancing. Last I checked EQ still does that (though not so much). Its allways the right of the player to buy any expansion. If the game does carry on, look forward to more expansions and yes more combat balancing.

I trying to look at it this way with JTL. They have had the last year plus the time in beta to get it working. They also have a chance for it to be balanced. So far I have read nothing about any curent class doing anything with JTL (though suspect crafters for sub parts). With that in mind, I do not care about current balance. They will get to it when they do. If JTL comes out and is the same botched game with in this case fighters being so embalanced, welp see ya later and thanks for the fish.

There was post on other boards and the balance issue. One comes to mind. Was somthing like this "I hope tie fighters are beefed up. One shot kills would be no fun". I here to tell you, in GCW I more then not would get one shot killed. Or current a TKA take me out. So I do not take part in that side of the game since that is no fun. The current balaning is no fun. We are not the only class with issues and all other classes that have had ther revamp are stuck with it as well till after JTL and then some.

Its your coin paying for game. If it a isue of waiting on your class to be fixed to have fun, then drop the account and watch the boards for the fix in a few mounths. Mean time, play something else. We do this for fun. So do something that is. Plenty to do.

I will not be purchasing JTL until after I'm satisfied that SWG itself is in a release condition. It's been a year and it's still not at the point where I'd describe it as in a fit stat to be released.

Issues which were present at release remain - and while they do I won't spend money on an expansion.

One thing to be aware of - if there is a large scale boycott of JTL, expect one of two things to happen very quickly:

1) new content being added that is only accessible through JTL

2) new add-on pack being announced which requires JTL

I cancelled my account and I will not be buying JTL.

If they did manage to fix the game ie professions and GCW, I'd consider resubscribing, but frankly I feel they've been flat out lying to their paying customers for the past year in order to keep the money rolling in.

Hope someone gets their act together at SOE, because it can still be a great game, but I'm not going to fund this beta any further.

See you all in a year, if the game is still around.

I've decided not to buy Star Wars: Jump to Lightspeed until the smuggler profession is fixed. The only way SOE can make me do it, is its required to continue playing the game. And if it is, at that point, I'll have to make my decision to continue playing.

I'm a software developer myself and I know you don't opt for features over fixes, because the work usually ends up depending on the broken items and you'll have to rip everything out to get to the broken part and then put it back together again. I am not thrilled by the recent development announcement.

Hmmm... They already said that our revamp is going to happen after EP, so no worries from me...
