i hear you mate.. and we all hoped that. i m sorry that i have to disapoint you with SWG and SOE. If you want to stay, you will find a great, sometimes grumpy, funny, sarcastic and loyal community. Well.. i hope the next generation will keep it that way.. i dont want to have Wes' job with that many people leaving,

Well, I'm not giving up the profession. I still think it is cool to dodge searches, and I love the word "illegal"applied tomy weapons. Other than that, I just need more NPC missions with *cough* riskier deliveries to quench my cash casting ways. I spent 1 Million creds just on an impulse to get collectors for my.... candy factory.

In order to have a future, it must first have a past. So let's look at smuggler's past:


pre-CU: Smugglers have no combat function without stacking it with other combat professions, and even then, smuggler added nothing except a few broken skills which were further nerfed to uselessness. In a nutshell, smugglers only "content"was beingspammed with "cn u slc plz" followed by a refusal to pay your fee because the random slice didn't do what the player wanted it to even though you explained it 101 times before that you can't guarentee a 35% damage slice, and "got ne muons" followed by a chef revamp which completely made all spice useless.


post-CU: Smuggler profession was combined with the illusionist class from EQ2 making us "mezzers", which as everyone who has ever played a mezzer knows that no one gives 2 craps about which targets are mezzed, they will attack them anyway, therefore getting your whole party killed. Spice is now useful again at the cost of a major nerf bat beating on the chefs.


A bit later, smugglers got a "slicing revamp" which either put us at the mercy of loot campers who try to gouge us for every credit we have so they can sellthem on ebay or turns us into loot campers ourselves. On my server, if I want an illegal core booster, I have to either get on my alt for hours at a time doing black sun duties till I get 1 or pay 1mil+ for it.



So if you want to look into the future, take a look at the past. There are many many more issues, but I don't really feel like writing a whole book about it.

I'm new to the smuggling profession, and I am concerned about the depth of character in the smuggler profession. Yes, it is very nice that we have the ability to manipulate faction standings, make illegal modifications to weapons, and produce illegal substances used for buffers, but I would like to know if/when smugglers will be able to smuggle for NPCs. Earlier I read of a revamp mentioned by GreenMarine, but I found this topic to be 2 years old. I'm sure there are manyother ideasof greater importance being implamented, butI just want to know if this topic is still on discussion with any of the devs. Again, I'm sorry I don't have enough time to read farther into this, but I am just curious as to what will be the future of the smuggler profession.


P.S. I do not want any replies of "personal oppinion" on the matter. I have seen many post-CU posts and complaints, and that only makes it that much harder to get the "facts" on the matter. Please provide information that can be backed up with fact.
