The AS are also concerned that since they aren't certed to wear any armor, they can't even GET to their harvesters, without picking up some combat skills. And imagine trying to do a harvester run on Dathomir or Lok, when the radar looks clear but then stuff spawns nearby 15 seconds after you've stopped moving.
I don't wear armor when I survey/drop harvesters on my AS/WS I rarely get killed. If there's a spawn of something nasty, I log on my smugglie and clear it, and ask for help as needed, even if it's from a stranger at a starport. Have rarely had to do this 5X probably, but never had anyone turn me down, and I didn't even offer to pay.
Yeah, I've always though the inorganic cpu costs that AS quote are a bit high. Looks like AS will have to choke down a much lower profit margin. That being said, when you run out of your stash of good stuff, you're going to pay out the butt to get it from someone else. A lot of AS have been saving resources for a long time, only to have the resource requirements changed, rendering a lot of what they have collectedfar less useful. It's like the smugglersrunningfactories fora bunch of mol clamps then discovering they are going to be useless after the upgrade. Not gamebreaking, but very, very annoying and a waste of time and credits.
Besides, it's the organics that AS are throwing the biggest fits about.
I can certainly understand about the organics, I'm in the same boat. Like I said though, smart armorsmiths are rectifying that problem right now, getting the best of what's available on their server.
Yep. The game was fun before the upgrade. I'll try the upgrade, and if it sucks, I will quit (and be glad I haven't invested over 2 years of my life in this game < I have, been here since beta 3). But I'm not going to scream and yell. If Baskin Robbins were to do away with Butter Pecan ice cream, I will just stop going there. I might say "Aw, don't do that" but I'm not going to howl to the heavens about why they shouldn't stop providing it, since I've been eating their ice cream since launch, and they're going to lose a jillion customers. SOE is going to do what they are going to do, and I am going to do what I am going to do depending on what they do. People act like they are doing SOE a favor by telling them they are stupid.

What you just said above.. makes sense and is logical. It has no place on these forums right now, and probably for the next few months.
This is all to the best of my knowledge.

Is this on the live server or on the TC? On the TC people (combat classes even) are reporting getting one-hit incapped off the swoops by rancors and nightsisters that spawn nearby. Others are getting knocked off their bikes by a rancor that spawns 50 meters behind them. It's going to be a lot more dangerous making harvester runs alone.
On live. Good point about TC; And on occasion on live I do get hit by things that have spawned WAY behind me.

Why thank you sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar and I don't believe any of the stuff they say about you behind your back.

This is definitely a concern the AS have. We may be turned into Tailors. People will wind up wearing armor solely for the skill attachments.
/sigh SOOOOO tired of this attitude. So you've been making armor for 2 years that's vastly overeffective and now that it's being brought down to a reasonable level of effectiveness it's considered worthless.
This is the same crap that smugglers run into with people wanting free slices that hit under 20%. An improvement is still an improvement. Just because it's not "UBER" doesn't mean it's crap. If armor now only blocks 200 points of damage, then that's still 200 points. Better than zero. You're saying people will stop wearing armor altogether and take more damage just so they can protest the fact that armor no longer deflects 1000 points of damage?

"Smart Armorsmith's are gathering resoruces with the specified stats that will be needed post CU right now already. Smart Armorsmiths have already placed orders with their favorite guildies/regular hunters, and have harvesters down right now collecting resources."
Unless these people have a line to Miss Cleo I would suggest they hold off on getting resources specified by what's on test center currently.
Stats needed for resources will change. It happened with JTL and it is a very good possibility that it will happen again.

Well it is a legitimate concern that the amount of resources needed, mined and harvested BOTH will triple/quadruple, as well as the time needed to make these things. Add in the fact that there are LOTS of different armor types available and useful and you're going to have a hard time finding a fully stocked armorsmith, and armor will definitely be increasing in cost.

After hearing the rumors of the price of weapons and armor going up, my thought is what do we do about the slicing? Especially since we will be able to choose how to slice. In regard to this post and the armor, should we go up on price or down?
I am trying to figure out how our prices will be changed in regard to THIS post. If you want a full discussion I will start another thread.

Comparing armor as it is on TC to slicing? Thats a huge gap you are trying to cover.
If you fight something that it below your level, you will ALWAYS win...without armor.
If you fight something that is your level, unless you fall asleep or lose concentration, youshould win, with or without armor.
If you fight something that is 4 or 5 levels above you, you WILL die..even with armor.
The system is deisgned for us to be able to kill things of our level and die to things above us..no matter what our armor or lack of armor is. That being the case, if you in Mando armor go out and fight a mob of your level with a groupie in clothes, he will likely have only taken 50-100 more dmg than you, but he also saw no armor decay and no expensive armor costs.
Will armor help stop damage? Sure. Will it stop enough to matter? No, not at its current level. A NS will still one shot kill you off your swoop. A Crazed Durni that is 5 levels over you will still eat you for lunch. Armor is now such a low priority in combat that its become a "why bother"
Shoot, I dont think that is a bad thing. Armor didnt do the STs on the death star chasing Han and Luke around much good, and So few people wore armor...its almost more star warsy for it to be as they are making it in the TC.

damage?
I wasn't aware it was ever going to be possible to be the same level as a Krayt. Large groups of people will still take on Krayts, and Nightsisters, and do the Corvette. And they will need armor to do it.
