Thread: Is it just me, or would you like to get arrested?

I've always had this desire to be arrested by the Empire. Now, I'm not talking about Stormtroopers scanning me, opening fire and sending me to the cloning facility (if they're lucky hehe). I'm talking about getting thrown in the clink, the brig, the big house, the lock up, the rock pile, the slammer, the... well you get the idea
Imagine this: You get caught smuggling (ok, stop laughing), and you're surrounded by Stormtroopers. You fire off a Last Ditch (using it correctly for once! hehe), but then get clocked in the back of the head. You see yourself hit the dirt face down, and the screen fades to black. As things fade back in and become clear, you realize you're in a 6x8 (or smaller!) cell. You can hear Stormtroopers stomping down the halls, and every once in a while one passes by your cell (if you're unlucky he'll verbally harass you, if you're really unlucky he might open the door and kick you a few times).
You check for your weapons but... they're gone! You're down to your clothes! Now, you've got to either find a way out of their (and find your gear, which would be safely tucked away in a container only you can open and has a convenient "take all" option on it), get some buddies down their to pay your hefty bail, or get some buddies down there to bust you out!
Would escape be possible? Of course! But, it would require patience! You could spends days (in game days that is) trying to make it good with the guards, or trying to steal their keys, or maybe trying to fashion a lock pick or a laser knife. Escape would, of course, make you an Imperial target, and even get you put on the Bounty Hunter terminals.
Who could get arrested? Only the scumiest of the scum (in the Empire's eyes that is). Anyone caught with very large amounts moderate to highly illegal goods would have a chance of being arrested. Anyone caught with military grade (as Green Marine called it) illegal goods would have a chance of being arrested.
What happens when Imperials get caught? Depends on your rank. Below Master Sergeant: thrown in the clink. Between Master Sergeant and First Lieutenant: Demoted one rank. Between First Lieutenant and Colonel: A large credit fine.
Yes, you read that right, not even the highest ranking Imperials are safe. Your rank may reduce the penalty, but you're still not getting off without a scratch. You're a high ranking officer, who in the Empire's mind should know better and should be a better role model for his troops, so you should absolutely be punished.
Anyway, I really want to get arrested, how about you?
It would be great. Anyone that's played Thief 3 and been caught by a city watchman just for the hell of it will know about the prison you get put into. Great idea, although only happens once in Thief 3, you just die every other time.
However, I doubt this would ever make it into the game. Not only would it require for them to do a whole bunch of coding, but also a fair bit of level design, something some devs seem alergic to doing if you look at the way the planets were created, the re-use of dungeons all over the game, along with the genericness of most other structures etc. in SWG..
But who knows eh? maybe we'll get lucky.

Being arrested is a curious thing for me.
Whenever I see it, I associate the notion with forced relocation of my player in a contained environment (not so good a thing)where I either have to sit out my time (which is boring) or escape (Which is interesting, but if you *always* escape, what's the point of prison?)
I can swing a little on thisand it is something I've wondered about pretty often.
Actually the prison escape could be something interesting. First off, make it a randomized puzzle to actually get out of the cell, that way you're not sitting around waiting to be released, but you have the risk of being caught escaping. (Make it so smugglers might have a little less risk). When you (the player) are able to solve the puzzle, *snick* the latch to the cell door opens. Then comes even more danger by either sneaking or blasting your way out.
...but then that would be content...

Smugglers? Content? What...I.....Brain.....Cramp......Reset.........Quick, Add Something for Jedi!
Thank you for installing Microsoft Brainware XP Pro 3rd edition with Service Pack 2, please reboot to complete your installation....
Folks would liely do the time at least once to see some thing new. kinda sad commentary on content tho when you think folks would like to sit in a jail cell to do something new

Well, you wouldn't have to escape. You could always just pay your bail or maybe have some other option.

That's something I'm concerned with too. A lot of players wouldn't like to be forced to act something out. The question is then, how could something like this be optional? Could the NPC Stormtroopers talk to you and give you an option to either pay a huge fine (option replaced by "try to blow the Stormtrooper's head off" for Rebels), or do prison time, but then would anybody actually choose to do time?
