Well you do gain a special title for being a Master Smuggler/Commando, you become a "Combat Smuggler".

Yea, I knew there could be problems, I'm not a dev and I don't really put a lot of thought into the work it would take... but, they could do it so it was only on combat or 'dangerous' professions or something... I.e. dancer, tailor, artisan, chef... maybe they could be left out since they are more of 'financial' professions... the criminal ones like Smuggler and Bounty Hunter are seedy enough to still be included... maybe I'm just trying to justify that for smuggler though...

But this idea could still work. I like the further idea of making a new skill tree (maybe one that doesn'tabsorb SP, but that you still need to get XP to get)... like the Crime Lord suggestion.

Here could be a couple more suggestions of my idea:

Commando/Master Doctor may have a higher resist to fire of heavy weaponry (because he would be familiar with those type of wounds?)

Master Doctor/Chef could make even further enchanced foods

Ranger + any combat profession could have enchanced Terrain Negotiation?

See a lot of these would probably have to be super-obscure, because you can't give great bonuses or again, a bunch of people will flock to certain combos.

But anyhow... I wonder if it would be possible to get the Devs to even read this...

I would love to get a little bonus for being a Master Pistoleer/ Master Smuggler... = Master Pirate? =)

Heh, I knew someone would think of something . Better yet, make them secret compartments to aid in smuggling if we ever get a real smuggling system.

Still, you've got 1,088 more to go. And thinking of them is the easy part, programming them is tough. If they could do one every day (which is likely a phenomenal rate), it would still take them a good 3 years to finish. That's what I see as the main sticking point to this plan.

Well like I said, they could do them for maybe JUST combat classes, or basically professions that have at least one combat special (Which makes Smuggler a go =).

Been wracking my brains trying to think of one that doesnt work - Smuggler/Entertainer has me thrown a bit.
And OK yeah, make it for the first two profs you Master. So if you Go TK, Smuggler, Pistoleer you can only have TK/Smuggler. Unless you drop the TK and get Smuggler/Pistoleer (and then, in theory, get Master TK back if you drop just the Master box and have enough AP)
It would make life interesting again.

If they ever made real legality issues, a Smuggler/Entertainer may be better at the equivalent of a Fast Talk skill. Entertainers make great Face men (women, beings, whatever).

I believe "Combat Smuggler" tags were leftovers from a bug which allowed you to set your tag to whatever you want. I don't think "Combat Smuggler" is a valid title. Let me know if I'm wrong...

Definately a good idea. I always thought that weaponsmiths should get some bonus to using weapons because they'd be very familiar with them, and your idea works much better than just skill bonuses for weaponsmiths.

However, there are at least two problems:

Even if you only consider combinations of two masteries, we have 33 (i think...) professions. that means there are 33^2 (33 squared) combinations... that comes out to 1,089 combinations. That's a lot of coding. If you consider triples, that's 33^3, or 35,937 combinations. It's just not practical to do them for everything.

Also, what about a combination like Smuggler/Tailor? What possible benefit could you get from that? (I'm sure there's something, but I'm sure there's some combination where you just couldn't think of anything). They definately couldn't make things for every combination, so it would have to be limited to just some, in which case it would seem incomplete.

Still the start of a great Idea, though.

Okay, its late, and I really don't think I know what i'm talking about, but I think your math is wrong...

Alright, so we have 33 professions. If we're aArtisan we can have 32 combos. The next Skill, Brawler, we only need to count 31 combos. Then for entertainer, we only need to count 30 combos. Then for Marksman we only need to count 29 combos. For Medic we only need to count 28 combos, for Scout we only need to count 27 combos, and the list goes on.

So total we'd have something like 561 different combos.

But really, what do I know,I got a D in Mathlast semester. (But now, i'm done with math forever!! 12 years of math to have it end so horribly, it kind of makes me sad. But then, I realize I am done, forever. And I am happy.)

I lIke the idea of a complimenting Profession. Would it not be easier to have a Grandmaster Title. Something to get say after a set time. Like say 3 months of master armorsmith/smuggler, or even make it a quest on the idea of the RIS armor. You could get a bonus for slicing one kind of armor and a bonus for experimenting on the same armor. Making it a randomstyle of armor for each player would be nice. Weaponsmith/swordsman would give you something like a better bonus vs say one type of armor ( light, medium, heavy) and experiment points for sword weapons. Combat profs would gain special attacks and or improved defenses vs the complimenting Prof. Better defense against pistols and LLCs if you were a Bounty Hunter/Pistoleer as an example.

It shouldnt be all profs though. What would a pistoleer/chef have to gain? I cant think of anything that would make sense.

Do not look to deep into the abyss! You may not like what is staring back!!
