For that I offer my apologies. Yet I must share that I feel I made the right decision.
I don't think you have anything to apoligize for.
I received a PM from a member of our community. I can understand the viewpoint and I'm sure many others are feeling the same way.
It really appears that the selections are political. I am not about to denigrate any of the people on that list but I see names that have contributed far less than others for a far shorter period of time.
I disagree, I do not think it is political. I wish I could ask the author to clarify their meaning behind this, but I do want to protect the identity in an attempt to keep the thread on-topic. The selections are based on the (perceived) abilities of the community as demonstrated by prior interactions. To me, that does not make it political.
I am writing this from my alt account and sending a PM because I don't want forum drama but already, this had made me lose confidence in this whole process.
I appreciate the intent to hide the identity, we are all after the quality here.
There are many outstanding members of our community. Yes there are, I think the Smugglers is the best community out there.
Yet some, I honestly wanted above any others. Badly enough that I would assure their place should they just agree to test. *guilty here, /agree*
The above message mentions the horsemen, these were a few of the more vocal members of the community who made arguments against the imperial immunity in the crackdown when it was first introduced many months ago. The primary members of this crew were Solo4114, ElectricNomad, JTGAlpha and myself. However the names following do not have a heavy emphasis on that original crew as you might notice. These were the people I wanted in without a shadow of a doubt.
- DrevenStrobe - I not only worked with him on Bria, but you have seen the time and effort he has put into this forum from helping other smugglers to writing guides for them. He retired a short time ago but luckily I have his e-mail address so I learned that he would be interested in coming back to test for our community.
- JTGAlpha - He is indeed one of the original Pony crew. He's fought long and hard for our profession and been of help in many ways. He's earned this spot times beyond counting.
- Geevo - He's done alot of work in the forum and in the game. I respect his opinion and he has helped organize vision documents for our community and more. I also wanted him here, honestly, because if I were to retire he would be probably highest on my list in suggesting someone to take my place. I need him there on the sand-box. I was not going to leave it up to chance. And as Geevo, I disagreed with 'the horsemen' on the Imperial Immunity. My personal view is that full Colonels should be immune.
- Ryutek - This guy went off and became the Teras Kasi correspondent. That should say something
So he's in one way or another. Damn fine smuggler on these forums. Don't Correspondents automatically get admission to it?
If this hadn't been made so public, I probably would have kept this entire process internal. Taking the aforementioned people I wanted and then decided with them who else they felt would work best in the remaining spots. I think the current process is better than the internal process.
/blush Thank you Caylin
One thing that many of you do not realize is that I am the devils advocate. There are many things I agree with Caylin on ... andsome thatI do not.
There are a few things that you can expect from me during sand-box. The first is communication, I will tell you as much as I can get away with that I feel is significant...if you see a bunch of
... you can tell I am happy ... if you see :/ I am either frustrated of in between happy and pissed ... if you see
I am not happy with things. (use this for future reference if you see random posts with just
or
... it is up to you to guess if it has to deal with sand-box or not ... because I may not be able to answer questions.
The list the Caylin put together impressed me because it was not just a single-minded view of people. The quality of the list shows the diversity of opinions and I can sincerely see where Caylin has tried to balance the list to represent the entire community.
/applaud Caylin ... job well done
/applaud the un-named person ... very good e-mail. Clear and respectable.
P.S. I also never asked for Sand-box ... but I do server where I am needed.

I think certain people are focusing too much on the selection of the People involved. What is by far more important than selecting the best individuals is the selection of the best Team. And a combination of any 5 names from that list will be a spectacular team.
We all know for a fact, based on their presence within the forum and their work on selected projects, that these people cooperate well. THey also each posess slightly different strengths and styles which will alow them to best feel out the work they will be doing. They're going to see problems from every single angle and come up with a wealth of ideas and solutions for the Devs. I can also tell that whoever gets selected from that list will be capable of challenging one another, which is just going to make the collaboration that much better.
Honestly Caylin, I think you coulda selected the team by putting those names in a hat and randomly selecting them, and we'd still be assured of having the best 5 of any profession. I for one have no problems trusting this group to test the hell out of the sandbox and start the ball rolling for our Smuggler fix.

I was disappointed with the devs when they said how early the game was launching, I knew there were gonna be a few rough days before the game would actually launch. Which explains my having bought the game before hand, and having registered in mid July.
While I would like the chance to run about in the sand box, I having actually been a participant on the Smuggler boards untill recently. I feel I was already lucky enough to run the beta tests, and asking to be in the sandbox would be too selfish of me for so little involvment with the community here. I support all your choices in the first thread, and am also willing to give ideas for you guys if you're allowed to post findings here.
I do hope those of you in the sand box can get the devs to make some changes so that a Master Smuggler can hold his own against say, Master Marksman, or Master Brawler, because in my view, while a Master Elite Profession should be able to take down a Master Hybrid, a Master Hybrid should give them a run for thier money, and a Master Hybrid should be able to take down a Master Starting Profession.
