Thread: Slicing Pricing

My most probably course of action will be to require that the customer already has the loot components, so my job is just a few clicks. I'd set the price to something like 4-5k or so.
In any case, I'm waiting to see how this will evolve, whether the loot components are easy to find or buy at a reasonable price. But as far as I understand the new system, it's mainly the customer's obligation to provide you the components.

This is from one of the trade threads for my galaxy:
"I have no idea wath to take for these items (to new in system) but around 40k for finely Crafted Toolkit and Shock Absorbing Padding. And 70k for Trandoshan Interframe. For the more rare stuff, a price from 150k to 200k a item.
The price on the loot, will ofcorse go back to the price of a slice"
Sooo that's about 200k per slice for tier 4 on armour, just for the components. Helloooo 2 mil for a set.
/cue mission impossible music
/your economy will self-destruct in 5 seconds...

The worst part of this new system, that really hasn't been discussed, is how are we going to explain it to our customers? It was easier in the past, you just said you get a random percentage increase within a range for either of two stats....now there are so many choices, people are going to get confused and not going to be able to understand why it's so expensive.
Personally I'll just provide them some basic info (like that loot components are needed) and paste them a URL to a smuggler guide. It's too much to explain in a chat.

Observations:
- No one is going to slice an entire suit of armor. It is a waste of time and money
- People will be buying average slices most of the time - level 1-2.
- People will reserve the expensive, rare slices for their ADK weapons that they already spent millions on.
- Stop whining about percentages, 35% damage was absurd. Customers have been pleased with their results.
Now, the prices:
- Basic slices that require only time: 20k
- Slices requiring basic kit: 30k
- Slices requiring fine kit: 50k
- Not doing high-end slices at this point - just holding on to parts to see. won't be less that 200k, maybe closer to 500k.
And this one is for everyone who couldn't understand that Master Smuggler is still required for the best slicing:
- Customizations resulting in a total rating of 0%049%: 1x
- Customizations ending between 50% - 74%: 2x
- Customizations 75% and greater: 3x
That means that if someone has damage totalling 60%and wants the basic speed slice (20%), it costs 60k. Why? Because you have to be MS to slice anything to over 75%.
I'm gonna be rich.

Looks like a good place to work from to me.

I'm pretty much boycotting slicing, since they decided to make it pointless and stupid. I'm not going to waste my time camping loot spots so I can find a rareitem to improve somebody elses equipment. I'm certainly not going to go buy components and hope to make my money back on those. If somebody wants to loot their own components and bring them to me, I'll do all slices for the same 10k I was doing before...but I've turned my Smuggler tag off, so I won't really have to deal with that either.

Yes but most veterans have used ADK to preserve weapons that are 1. already sliced and 2. already capped. These are not your customers going forward. Don't forget, you can't slice beyond the cap for a given weapon (for damage). If you don't believe me on this point, tryadding an illegalcore (level 3 damage slice) to apup'ed weapon and you'll get a 'this weapon is capped cannot be sliced' message. I removed the pup and was able to add that component to the pistol Boba Fett gives you. I added the one illegal core I got from the WUK conversion and the 30% damage pup.It went from around 770 max damage to around 960 or so. It's rad.
The devs introduced the critial strike slice as an answer to not giving up the damage caps on a given weapon. The unsliced ultra uber weapons out there can get a 10% increase to crit strike and that's very attractive to a serious player. They'll pay a lot for those delicate trigger assemblies. 500k, 600k, maybe even a million. They're gonna be way more valuable than the illegal cores because of the caps.
For mid-level players shopping around for unsliced weapons, who areabout to get they're ADK's and looking to spendasignificant amountof money, you'll clean up on the level 3 damage and crit strike slices.
As for what to charge I'm thinking of making two scales--one for weapons under level 30, one for weapons over. I'll write the whole thing up in my bio and make people read the policy.

So far on flurry I have made an effort to stop the gougers and buy these components at what I consider to be a LOW price.
I am paying:
Simple Toolkit - 25k
Finely Crafted Toolset - 50k
Illegal Core Booster - 200k
Delicate Trigger Assembly - 200k
At the moment I am not even going to attempt to slice armor or even worry about it past level 1.
But what I will be charging...
Slices that require no components: 25k
Slices that require Simple Toolkits: 50k-75k. I'm more inclined to 75k.
Slices that require Finely Crafted Toolsets: 100-150k. Again more inclined to higher charge.
Slices that Require the ICB's and DTA's: 400k a piece.
That means that any slice using a ICB or DTA would require me using a ST and or a FCT. That means I would have to fork over 275k, so that would be a 125k profit.
People who think my rpices are to high... A weaponsmith buys a set of krayt tissues for 1.5m and then crafts weapon and sells for 3m... want to complain now?
But, what I am aiming for is a steady business. I am honestly "comfortable" with my money situation and am able to start buying these parts. I've had a few people agree to do contract work as in hunting krayts for me for the loot parts. Someone who kills 20 krayts in a day looking for tissues to sell may loot 10 DTA's and would be able to make 2m for their troubles. Good deal IMO.

Do the people that make these moronic changes to professions ever actually just sit down and play? Just to get some idea of how some of their brilliant ideas just don't work in the actual game?

Think of it like this. Without us Smugglers, these expensive looted components are worthless. So we can jack up the price to whatever we want (like weaponsmiths and armorsmiths). This is something I think will be good for Smugglers so we can actually start to make money and be able to buy those CA/AA's for 10 mil

theres a million other threads dealing with this but...
25k a level if supplies are supplied by customer
25k for levels without components
50-75k for simple toolkits if i supply.

400-500k for delicate trigger assembly and illegal core boosters if i supply.
I don't touch armor...
illegal core booster drop rate is silly I am only using mine fore personal use till somthing is done.
