I'm getting real sick of all this Jedi crap. They created an end game, and when the end gamers don't like it, they give them what they want. Gotta keep those endgame accounts right?
Well to clarify, the people you point out in the post aren't necessarily endgame, they're still trying to reach the endgame (knight status/FRS). And the Jedi who were endgame before CU are still getting shafted, just like us smugglers.
All the endgame Jedi ask (right now) for is balance for their professions, which isn't much to ask for.
it is when you consider they are just 3 out of 45 skill tree's and yet they have consumed more programming time than every other profession combined. If the devs wanted to do something about the anti-jedi hate they could put some massive programming time into other professions like smuggler, ranger, squad leader. I am talking at LEAST as much as what went into pub9 and 10. We are talking atleast 1 month of hard work per profession. The droid engineers still need cool stuff too just to make it more starwarsy. They blew it with the last one not wanting to gate any other profession. Now 80% of everyone is a jedi who is 100% self-sufficent. Might as well have droids doing things other professions can do.. noone logs them in anyway.
BTW you wont believe what I saw in the jedi forums... they were pissed that BH were given decent loot tables for their PVE missions. The BH are given something to do besides hunt jedi meaning there is a chance they will be doing this instead of hunting jedi.. and they still complain. While quite a few sided with the original poster.. many more really laid into him.
Of course, a lot of board-warrior Jedi want their cake on a silver platter. Heck, all professions are like that to varying degrees.
I tend to agree with you: the new wave of Jedi, forthe most part, consist of extraordinarily bratty people (there are some exceptions), compared to the older generation which is continually being shafted even by their own community members (those are the Jedi that say that Pre-9 Jedi should get some kind of special reward for having survived the toughest grind this game has to offer).
I know a whole bunch of really old Jedi who have since left the game or are on the brink of doing so, just like some of us smugglers, because of the developer's handling of the Jedi class and what it has turned this game into. I feel bad for them that the FRS came out botched, and now they've lost all the work of Knight status, all in the name of bringing in new players. I think it's great they're doing this, but at the same time, they didn't have to piss on the entire existing community.
The only good thing that may come out of this is the hope that SOE has indeed learned the error of their ways with slipshod implementations and will only implement stuff when it's good and ready. i know to many of us veterans it sure as hell doesn't seem that way, and the lack of communication certainly seems to reinforce the very notion, however it would be a change for the good if it was true.
On a side note, I highly doubt anything can effectively get rid of anti-Jedi hate, because the issue has been dealt with very badly on SOE's end and left neglected, for the most part, for far too long. It's pretty plain and obvious now that non-Jedi willhave to deal with the hate, and that's bad because it can only lead to more and more cancelled accounts, or more and more unwilling individual concessions to Jedi because they're the only end-game this game offers. I know some people who are hardcore GCW fanatics that are caving and deciding to go Jedi only very recently, and it's not a pretty sight. In true EverQuest fashion, every single one of them has told me that they hate the idea ofbecoming Jedi, but it's the only choice they have. Sickening.

what SOE fails to consider is that these new jedi-centric players are going to have very short in-game life-cycles. Any true star wars fan has already tried the game long before now. All they are getting is fly-by-nighters. Crapping on die hard fans to get more fly-by-nighters is going to net fewer players in the long run than staying loyal to the vets. Staying loyal to us guarantee's subscriber base. Crapping on us makes us leave. Fly-by-nighters, even when butt-kissed 24/7, will only stick around 4 months tops. Ive had 15 new guild members since the commercials started running that cant be found. They dont log in, they wont go to the guild website and register, they dont show up at meetings. Noone has even seen them show up on the notify when they log in. Thats 15 out of the 16 new players we got. Thats an alarming percentage leaving the game the first 30days. And all SOE can say for themselves is they crapped on us with the hope of these new kids with zero loyalties.
