Ugh. I can just see it now. Since peoplewon't be able toget their sliced weapons and armor fix by going to vendors, they'll be bombarding every Smuggler they see using the Search feature with tells asking for slicing. Everyone uses sliced gear. What do you think is going to happen once they have to actually come to a Smuggler to get it?
I do bulk slicing, and I sell sliced armor on a few vendors in different locations. I pick the time I want to slice items. I get it done in a reasonable amount of time, and then I am off to go have fun doing something else. If you take away the ability to sell sliced items on vendors, I can basically count on spending my entire play time responding to tells and slicing for people. We'll become the new Master Doctors, with our lines of impatient people, standing outside of starports. Or we'll hide our Smuggler tags (which sucks to have to do) just so we can avoid all of that.
I just think it would cause more trouble than it's worth.

I could see the argument for removing it from the public bazzar, but MOST personal vendors are NPC's. People too often see these vendors as furniture but they represent actual people who could very well be blackmarket sellers working for the smuggler.
I agree.
Both my vendors have names -- not just a title to show in the cntrl-V map. Vren Thornfist is a local thug that sells my tools. K'ri is a Twi'lek I got from Jabba to sell my spice. I think a good argument can be made for the public bazaar but I don't believe my own hired thugs and...ahem...gifts... from Jabba should be prevented from selling my stuff.

This my friend is why I use /anon most of the time.
I slice when I preferably want to. Making us a wanted commodity would be great, people will have to LOOK for us instead of searching.
If we all just go /anon then it will be harder to find us, we don't have to answer tells...

I guess this post like many others shows the difference between many smugglers today. There are those that don't want to feel like they are smuggling, they just want this to help their crafting/making money ideas. And there are those that would actually like to feel like they have to smuggle things. To feel like they are criminals, not craftercompliments or specialized merchants.
And how hard is it to change your tag if you don't want tells? Every smuggler has probably done this from time to time, takes 2 secs.
Oh, I get it. You're one of those pure Smugglers. Hate to break it to you, bub, but all that stuff you're doing right now... it ain't Smuggling. I'm not sure how people got those two things confused, but I guess people need a reminder now and then. Slicing is not Smuggling. So to imply that people who slice items to sell them on vendors aren't real Smugglers is just idiotic. All they are is people who are making money using the skills the Devs gave the profession. When real Smuggling is introduced in the game, then we can talk about actual in-game Smuggling.
Another thing... some of us aren't so wrapped up in the RP aspect of MMORPG's. Just because you are, or want to be, doesn't mean that everyone else has to , as well.
Oh, and I know how easy it is to switch my Smuggler tag to something else. I just prefer not to do it. I was a Smuggler in beta, and I'm kinda proud of my tag. I don't want to have to switch it because other people think it would be neat-o to sit in tell hell all day because they wanted to get rid of the ability for the rest of us to sell stuff on vendors.

Kind of already knew that, bub, which would explain why I, like everyone else on these boards, are trying to think up ways to make this profession more like smuggling and less like a slicemonkey. No I don't RP hardly at all, but I'd like to see the vendors illegal because it may make things a bit more like smuggling. (which is the entire point of the revamp btw) I'm not a slice monkey doing bulk orders for weaponsmiths, or placing huge amounts of sliced goods on my own vendor. I think that's a bit silly that we can do that with illegal goods.
Although I do like the idea of a black market vendor available for smugglers, maybe just for Masters.
