Nintendo has been lacking for awhile. I'm done with the PS series also. They're not bad, but once you get used to the controls of the XBox, IMO you can't beat it. I won't be buying the 360 when it comes out, I'm gonna wait for the price to come down, but I'm not buying any more Play Stations. A big part of it may be because I play mostly sports games and they're all available for the XBox. A big part of it may be that seeing the name Sony makes my stomach turn.

........... You've obviously not seen the trailers for the remake of Final Fantasty VII, the new PS3 Unreal game/technology, or the PS3's version of Killzone... good god they're all awesome!
Seriously, I'll be getting a PS3 and a 360, because they just seem so brilliant.

It really comes down to the games I play. I don't need multiple consoles to play the same games. I had both a PS2 and an XBox til I gave the XBox away to a friend because I had so many games for PS2. I kick myself everyday for that because I really did like the XBox better, I just didn't want to go out and buy a bunch of games I already had.

If you were a really patient person, you would just go out and spend the $600 you would normally spend on an xbox 360 to buy an older console+ all the games for it, ever. I mean the games are just as fun now, as they were 5 (or 10) years ago right? Hell some of the most memorable games I have ever played are the simplistic fun "arcade" games that me and a buddy or 4 would get together and play. While the new games have more polish, most of them forget that games, at heart, should be fun!
Now the above theory doesn't apply necessarily to MMO's. I don't like simplistic MMO's. They run out of fun very quickly. However if you look at MMO's like say Runescape, its focus is on fun and humor, and not so much on the polish. Its a fun game though, and the only other I keep a subscription to. Yes, I know I can play for free, but you know what? Its an excellent game and I can't think of a better way to compliment its developer than to give him my money. *shrug*

PS3 is not looking to be a good system. The only reason Sony has announced it is because Microsoft has announced the 360. Nearly all of the features that Sony touted at E3 as major jumps above the X-Box have been pulled (act as a router, HDDVD + Blu Ray drive now just Blu-Ray, size/inclusion of a hard drive has been moved from 100GB and will come with to 40GB and perhaps ready to be purchased at launch, lots of other stuff).
Now, the only reason PS2 >> X-Box is because of the sheer number of developers making games for the PS2. At the gamestop I work at, our PS2 section takesup an entire wall, while X-Box and Cube are sharing one. Wes says Unreal3 engine and Killzone? I say Unreal3 engine and Gears of War. Oh yeah, and don't forget Elder Scrolls IV. There's also been talk of people making maps on their PC (since the console version won't have the ability, just way too much to do on a controller...maybe), and then downloading them to their box. Sweet feature. Plus, custom soundtracks in every game. Nothing better than fragging your friends to your own theme music (see: Smuggler theme music thread(s)). Not saying PS3 will suck, I'm saying they need to step it up and stop giving the usual Sony DoubleTalk. (Smugglers will get a revamp...just kidding. PS3 will have a hard drive...just kidding.)
Wes, by FF7 remake do you mean the videos that were redone and shown at E3 as an example of what their new Cell processor could do? Or do you mean Advent Children? (which I still won't believe is comming out until I've watched it four times, since I've been hearing about it ever since I beat FF7) Or do you mean Crisis Core?
And now Wes brings up the money situation. Sony needs to convince us to save our cash for the PS3, since it will be oh so much uberer. Too bad the Box will most likely have a few dozen titles by the time PS3 launches in the states, and games are the reason we buy systems. Will you eventually buy a PS3 to play FFXIII? Of course. But what if it comes out on the Box first/at the same time since SquareEnix has joined the Microsoft juggernaut? (see: FFXI being their first game contribution to the Box).
Damn, long rant. Sorry all.
The short of it: First there was Atari, and now they just make games. Then there was Nintendo and Sega, and now Sega just makes games. Now there's Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, and Nintendo is on the way down. (Revolution = paperweight). So Nintendo has Mario and Zelda? Sega had its great sports games and Sonic. And where do you see them now? Besides, if they make a PS4, Microsoft will have nowhere to go. You know for a fact they aren't gonna do X-Box 420. I would rather see Sony go hardcore on the PSP for the next year or two, watch how the 360 goes, and then come out with a system. The PS2 is far from dead, but from what I see the PS3 is a stillbirth.

As it stands, the next-gen systems I'm looking forward to are the Xbox 360 and the Revolution. I like pretty much everything about the 360(the only thing I dislike is not seeing any ports for wired controllers, and I hate wireless controllers).
I'm digging the Revolution for the fact that they're saying it'll be backwards compatable with the GameCube, and you'll be able to download all of Nintendo's previous(cartrige based) titles, which is great when I feel like playing the original Spy Hunter(NES), Super Metroid(SNES), or perhaps the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask(N64). That concept just rocks. However, if they do end up dropping this feature, I'll be reconsidering joining the Revolution.
Why can't Microsoft please just put some damned controller ports on the front of thier machine? They don't have to remove the built in capability to use wireless controllers, but I don't like being limited to such things.
