I'm sure if we keep bumping this thread with sarcasm here and therethat someone who's actually hunting these things can give you an answer.

I'd say if you've killed 80 of them and haven't found anything, then no.
P.S. I prefer the term turd-burglar.

They are there...!!
The drop rate is just very crappy. Out of nearly 500 Mercs i have got about 4 of them all up.
I Think the drop rates on all the new tools SUX bigtime. After killing nearly 2000 Reb Fighters in Kessel I have only gotten 2 of those Reactive Plating thingies & I have completed nearly 20 - 30 Black Sun Duty Missions from Dantooine & Dath, & have yet to get a Illegal Booster Core.
I Honestly dunno what the Devs were thnking, I mean think about it. The Master Smuggler can't even use his skills nearly 99.99999% of the time because the parts he requires are soo rare.
Whats the Use of Having a MASTER profession if you can't use the MASTER skills you have learnt when ever you want to. MASTER Riflemen can do Conceal Shot when ever they like, MASTER Meics can heal when ever they like, But MASTER smugglers can't slice when ever they like cause they don't have the parts they need.
I am not a smuggler myself, but i think it is unfair thay you's guys have to wait to use your top skills, that every other Profession takes for granted..!!!!

Thanks for saving me the trouble. If these parts are so hard to obtain then I'm surprised this board isn't full of complaints on this issue. I've got 3 weapons needing damage slices and nobody can do it due to no parts.
Tell me there's a work around?

The boards aren't full of complaints yet because people have stockpiled huge amounts of old tools that can be converted to new tools. Once people run out of the old tools it's gonna get a little noisier in here

We have been complaining, but you know how it goes, you never know if the devs hear you or not. Like Moriendor says, though, a lot of people aren't complaining because they haven't actually tried to FIND any of the new tools. I have gone out trying to find some and no luck on the simple toolkits. I'm still ok for now with the crates I can salvage, but the future is dim unless they fix this drop rate.

Old WUK and AUK schematics still work, I had a WS friend of mine crank out some more crates for me post-19.
I think the real reason it's so rare is to really just wear out existing stockpiles of gear, but that's just me. Hell, once the salvaging option came out, you could NOT find a WUK or AUK for sale ANYWHERE on Bria.

I checked last night and now bazaars have tons of them up. WUKs are selling individually for 20k and no less, AUK's are going for 10k minimum, and the factory crates of WUK's are going for 110k a piece. I also made over 300k last night with just 4 slice jobs...so I am much more happy with this system than the old "100 creds per %" concept.
Please just don't let this turn into what the Jedi boards are. All the people who were around before pub-9 (or Publish 19 for us) telling everyone else they deserve something special because they're old school. Those are the most retarded posts I've ever read over there.

I haven'tlooted any simple toolkits on Lok, but I have looted a finely crafted toolset from a CL 81 mercenary on Lok during a mission. I do not recall the subtype, but it was definitely a merc.

Semi off-topic since it's not simple toolkit related but...
Infinity is currently in phase 3 and the Sith Shadows are dropping slicing components, too. I teamed up with someone at the village (on my alt char) and we killed tons of Sith Shadows as we were trying to get a remote for one of the close-to-village bases. I don't remember which kind of tool it was since my partner looted it but the Sith guysare dropping slicing gear and -yes- the drop rate is very low. We killed a lot before we finally ended up with a ("correct") remote and that one slicing tool was the only one out of an estimated 100 - 150 kills.
