moving the skill to scout or ranger might be, and I'm sorry to tell you this, the worst idea I have heard in a good 6+ months. All FD needs is the tier system we have talked about to death. FD modifiers sprinkled throughout all 4 trees kind of like the CH creature level. This would reduce dabbling almost entirely because the only way you would be able to effectively FD would be to master.

Yeah take our only smuggler style move and give it to rangers so that they can fight the Nuna's better.

Simply moving it to Master Smuggler at least gets the stupid Jedi and BHs off the case. Since BHs can't hunt us they won't be complaining and the Jedi won't have enough skill points to use it.
In fact so few players will actually use it that the noise over it will all but die out.
It's simple and it shuts most everyone up.

but the problem is not solved in normal pvp. If we are going to have it fixed, have it *fixed* so we can move on with our lives.

Caylin,
Counting on SOE to 'fix' the problem in a satisfactory way is...well like counting on them to let us actually smuggle.
Moving it to Master Smuggler takes the number of complaints about it in PvP down drastically and it is easy to do.
For SOE, who seems to have the hardest time with the simplist little things, I suggest keeping it simple for them...you know, the KISS principle?
Best of all it lets the Jedi and BHs go about their business of making each others game miserable and keeps their ilk out of our faces.

Less player bounty bitching in the short term. That's nice.
We instead postpone that total flamefest for a later time when player bounties are introduced for us. We also screw with all the newbies who are actually trying to master the profession.
It sure sounds good to move it to master when you already have it but I'm not about to leave our up and coming smugglers in the lurch either.
I'm sorry, it solves nothing. It just delays it a few months and then it wont be focused on some other profession. All that hate will be focused on us.
Fix the problems, don't postpone them.

i think this is a great idea, it will cut down the amount of whining drastically, whilst not leaving up and coming smugglers out in the cold. and of course the idea of higher modifiers per dirty fighting box is a good one for a fix of the imbalance issue

Institute penalties for each side using it.
Jedi uses it: Experience loss equal to 75% of that lost on incapacitation
Bounty Hunter uses it during a mission: Loss of mission, loss of TEF, inability to pick up the same mission for a week.

The skill mods thing is something I'm wanting too, and I always include this idea along with my proposed Feign Death fix, but I'm getting tired of talking about the skill fix, and would rather see this issue resolved first, then institute the skill mod fix.

Of course if it was moved to the Master Smuggler box, no one would know where it was any more as the box is still empty of any useful information...
Now that'd solve things and we'd have a lovely little secret

Let them dabble. They are only using skils that they earned.
I think the devs should give us a new underworldskill: PickPocket that we could use to rifle though all that a FDed player has in his positionwhile in FD mode. And we get to keep anything we wnat - Including the weapons and armor.
(That'd serve them roght for using our skill.)
I was a Master Ranger and I am on Flurry.
Even thoguh I really liked the prof I gave it up because I couldn't kill anything other thanthe lowest level critters fast enough to make a living at it.
Unless the combat whatever gives Scouts/Rangers a very large boost in combat sklls then FD would be a waste of time for them.
ElevatingFDs use to a higher branch of Smuggeler might prevent its use by Jedi but then a template of MBH and Master Smuggler would still haveFD. and the problem would still exist between those 2 profs.
You want to start something---Why aren't we calmmering for a light sabre to use? Han used one to slice a tautau.
