When the FD nerf comes into effect you won't have to go overt to sell faction as overt won't be a status. I thought I read an earlier post that stated you had to be Special Forces in order to deligate. If you can deligate to S.F. from Combatant status, that'd be a major screw-up based on how they wanted new gcw to work. I'll have to head back to the test center later to try this.

If we are unable to deligate while in Combatant status, then I'm only selling to civilians and people already in my faction. If someone wants to change sides, then they'll need to quit their faction first. I'm not walking into that trap.

I thought I read that, too -- and I have repeated it! Yikes! If this is NOT true, and you need NEVER be Special Forces as a smuggler in order to ply your trade, than that is great news. (Still, I say we need another combat move that we can use in PVP though, to replace FD.)

Can anyone else confirm this?

Thanks!

not a troll just wondering when the FD nerf comes into effect, you will have no safety when going overt to sell faction

i personally felt better if i wasnt sure about the customer knowing that if it was a setup i had my FD to fall back on, that option has been taken from us now

Opinions?

btw this isnt a plea to the devs or anything, it's been 3 days now and not a word so its seems they arent that fussed what Smugglers are upset about

I'm currently ending my business

Don't want to be a smuggler any more. No fun, and i don't want to be a FP jackpot or Slice machine anymore.... Since i can't do anything else....

It's not going to affect me one way or the other...I'll still continue selling FP wether I have to be S.F. to do so or not...

When the changes go into effect, it's only going to take 5 minutes to change from S.F. to Combatant or "On Leave".

So, assuming they don't change it to allow Combatants to /del, if I get an FP order, I'll arrange a meeting at a PvE base of my choosing (probably one I'll place). Then, I'll wait for my mark...er...client to arrive, then /declare S.F.and /del (I plan to keep a large amount of FP on hand at all times, if not capped out). I'll then immediately talk to the recruiter and start my 5 minute countdown to return to Combatant.

A lone Rebel would be a fool to attempt to gank someone at those new PvE bases. If they're man enough to fight through the NPCs and get to me while I wait5 minutes for my status to change, I'll give them the kill.

As long as I make my profits, I don't give a damn.

Currently on TC...YES, you have to be S.F. to /del.

However, as I mentioned above, as long as I make my profits, I'll give somebody the kill if they want it bad enough to fight their way through a PvE base to get to me.

Thanks. btw - did you ever get to test del rates? If not, let me know and I can come meet you on the test server.

Yup...me and LaughingWolf got the /del rates all worked out. You can see the updated table in my Guide to Selling FP.

Surprisingly, we did it at one of the blue frogs and I only almost got killed ONCE...but never got incapped or died. Somebody was hitting pretty heavy on my mind bar though...

I may take it one step further, by meeting up in one place and making them follow me to the base. That way if there are Spec Forces players following, I know right away and can take them into a trap, instead of my base. If they decide to stay behind, then I'll have a head start on them. Instead of waiting at my base, just towatch a gank mob of red dots come at me on the radar.

If business is really good (which, with the new bases and how planetary control works, it should be), after I make enough creds, I'm thinking of setting up my own little compound. I have 2 characters, so I'll be able to place 6 bases. I'm thinking something along the lines of a collection of PvE Detachment HQs.

Then, if somebody wants to get to me where I'm /del-ing points, the first thing they have to do is figure out which base I'm in...and then they have to run the gauntlet to get to me.

NPCs will attack both S.F. and Combatant declared players. And the NPCs at the new bases aren't like the NPCs on live now. Farming won't be nearly as easy as it is now...

Bring them. This is war, after all.

Sigh. Darn. Won't be able to keep dark jedis from grabbing a shuttle or bringing out a bike for a fast getaway with feign death for as long as it amuses me. Tsk. Oh wait, there is forcerun. Whatever. /shrug

Thanks for checking! Whoops, guess I misread it somewhere. Just got home from work and was about to log in to check. I agree though, if they want it that bad... they can fight through a PvE base to get me as well.

Hell yeah I still plan on selling faction after the change. Anytime someone has tried to attack me while selling FP they have regretted it. Just because the tag says master smuggler does not mean that I won't go American History X on your face if you jump me. Plus, if it's a group I FP sell in the safest place on my server for rebels. do you still need to be overt to delegate faction?

Yes I'll still sell faction. I'd be stupid not to, everyone is going to want bases, turrets and rank comet he mini GCW patch.

Lately with the cap change, I merely take their money as a covert then return to give them there points a an overt already going covert. I /del with my bike right beside me and if I smell trap they get left in the dust. I prefer the role play of them giving me the money(at least the cost if not the profit as well) and going to make the arrangements alone then meeting again to quickly hand over their "new papers".

I mainly deal with people I know or their associates though so more trust is invovled here. If I do this for a person I don't know then I encourage them to "document" the process with a trade window, spatial chat, and screen shots so they have proof.
