Thread: How DARE we raise our rates for slicing??? {gasp!}
Just tell them your pricing up front. Write a macro for it even. I always start with, "Do you know the drill?", if not then tell 'em how it works. I just act like I don't put up with shenanigans and people don't screw around.
Just don't be rude. If someone gives you lip, let 'em keep talking. I mean your dialogue appears in the spatial, so if they're a pain, keep their item and walk off, screencap the talk.

Thanks for keeping up with the "Smuggler Code".
Who thinks Siggy's Smuggler Brotherhood Membership should be revoked? ![]()
That is just not good for my business, good thing you're on another server!

I have never charged for slicing. In fact, sometimes I even sit outside the starport advertising free slices to help promote my business. It is so dirt cheap to slice weapons, that I don't feel the need to reimburse myself. If I tip that cantina dancer 10k instead of 30k, then I can slice roughly a hundred weapons.
Everyone wants to make more money, slicing isn't something you guys can jack up the price on. There will always be people like me slicing for free.
Thank you Thank you....for not creating your character on Wanderhome.
About a month ago I tried to Start a sort of Smuggler's Union and one of the points of this was to try to convince them all that we could theoretically raise prices of slicing...considering we are the only class that can perminately enhance weapons/armor. Needless to say...at the beginning I heard from about 10 different smugglers...all but one thought this was a good idea. I have just bitten the bullit and stopped slicing for others all together. It is not worth the trouble to me...in fact I rarely ever wear my Master Smuggler tag either.
All-
To clarify, I am simply stating my opinion and venting to a degree.....
YMAC - Good on you brother... if you don't charge at all for slicing your weapons, you would be the first to do so that I have ever heard of. I have looked hi and low on Corbantis and I have yet to see any elite WS / AS NOT charging through the roof for a well-sliced weapon. I have no hate for you as you are in the miniscule minority.

And what of those characters who say that it costs docs way more to make buff packs? Would those same people also say that Musicians and Dancers should be buffing people's minds for free?
Here goes again:
It's not the money, it's pride. We and our services are worth more then 3000 credits.
Experimented with 10k, didn't have a problem at all.
I do 5 because it's fast and easy, 4 if they're in my faction. If I charge 100k and someone pays it, I think I'm doing an outstanding job of playing to-role. If someone said: Hey pal, I can't afford 10k, can you lower it? I'd almost _certainly_ lower it to whatever he could pay, even if it was 500 credits, and even if he was probably lying.
This morning my slicer was waiting in Coronet for business, but all I got was request for buffs (because people are inherently stupid I guess). I told them I could request a Doctor to buff, but it'd be pricy (it was early, I was still trying to RP).
Long story short, I logged my doctor on and charged 25k per buff. Some didn't bat an eye, some bitched like I took their pudding away. I told them a thing was worth what you can sell it for, but the complainers didn't seem to understand anyway. Hey, if you don't need the money, you can afford to piss off a few whiners, I guess. And at 25k per slice, I can afford to piss off 2.5 buyers of 10k buffs, no?
I still made a quarter million credits buffing in my spare time, so I guess captialism and greed win again.
I truly do not see a reaon to charge per %. Those of you who do it are not helping the rest of us. Doctors do not charge based upon a percent it is a flat fee. I charge 4K per slice if I am in the slicing mood and 6K if I am busy but they really want a slice. I am lucky to not have any rude people yet.
