While the space program adds to our understanding of the cosmos and broadens our range of scientific experimentation, there's not a lot of opportunities for financial reward based on the cost of the program. That's one of the reason many folks believe that the future of the space industry lies in becoming a more open field, allowing private corporations to develop new technologies and programs.
Take the "Pie Finder I" mission. I'm sure the returns on that venture will be huge once we get the program off the ground.
Privitization holds the key for Space Exploration. I think we will have the first private Space Companies on the NYSE in ten years. There first jobs will be to replace aging commericial Satelites and man a 24/7 communications array in the Southern Hemisphere. North American, Japanese and Hong Kong based compnaies will compete with each other directly. European and Russian state owned agencies will be subcontractors. It will be great.

Yep, shuttle launch delayed. They got all the astronaughts all strapped in and everything...then someone figured out a fuel cut-off valve was working correctly.

Yeah, what's their problem? I mean its not rocket science!!!
Oh wait...
New vehicles are being developed, but its all limited by money. There's only so much to go around every year. Spend tax money on citizens or spend it on collecting moon rocks? Its all a balance so you'll just have to hold on to your shorts.

Hmmm, blame it on the administration, not NASA. When budget cuts come around, war is more important than space exploration. And they are working on new launch vehicles, check out the X-Prize competition, there was actually a privately made craft that made it into space by being launched from another plane.
