I'm sure they'll get to this one in due time...as soon as they remember that they have a "Smuggler" link to click.

What really gets me about the mods here (waves to the guys with Yellow names)...they don't seem to know what the "LOCK" button is for. They appear to believe that if they just delete all of the "bad" things, they'll just go away. Seems to me that if they LOCKED, with a nice little message about why a particular topic is locked, it would be alot better than pushing DELETE with no reason given at all. Deleting things only makes people wonder what they're trying to hide...

Yeah in time...this post will be deleted...lol i havn't seen a locked one in a while. (When its deleted i'll laff (yes i said laff))

I have to agree with Dreven. Though, it may be a good idea in the "long run", I'm not sure how long many customer's legs can hold up. It's been a marathon already.

Short term, if there's a shift in management, I could see the Smuggler Revamp even farther out on the Outer Rim . Hell, maybe even the "Unknown Regions", unfortunately.

And then, if these damn DVD Trilogy "revisions" are any indication of Lucas's bent,Galaxies may be "out of the Trash Compactor into the Sarlacc!"

I wonder if this would actually help the game.

26 August 2003 - Devs make their first detailed promise to overhaul the Smuggler profession.

Back before they shifted the Europen CSRs to India, I knew one of them (I still know him, he just didn't take the offer to move to the US). He told me that SOE had been given a few warnings by LucasArts to get the game fixed. Failure to do so would result in legal action being taken against SOE for failing to meet their contractual obligations. These warnings are what led to the whole revamp craze that SOE seem to be in.

The legal action that was threatened was described as 'the biggest (financially speaking) legal case in US history, and would likely result in SOE going bankrupt'.

LucasArts have been un-happy with SOE's performance for a very long time (if my sources can be believed, and I have no reason *not* to believe them) and if this rumour is true, it would indicate that Lucas has finally had enough and is willing to do something about it.

This game had/has AMAZING potential. You know it, I know it, George Lucas knows it. SOE failed to fulfill that potential. You know it, I know it, and it seems GL now knows it. I played this game from launch and for about 3 months after, then I quit. I quit because, frankly, the game left a bad taste in my mouth. SO much wasted potential. I keep watching what's going on here as I firmly believe the potential is still there, and if it is ever lived up to, I'll come running back in a flash.

If LucasArts *do* take over the sole running/developement of SWG, I for one, would be a very happy bunny indeed.

Tiggs posted a thread about Star Wars Galaxies News -- An invitation to all former players which in itself is uninteresting that they are offering people who quit a free 10 days to try and get them back, but what was interesting was her link to the "new official JTL website" which oddly enough forwards to LucasArt's JTL webpages. Why isn't SOE hosting the JTL pages if they are going to run it? It sounds more and more suspicious all the time. Not to mention that LucasArt's SWG and JTL pages are waaaaay more informative and nicely done than SOE's pages ever were.

This would be a mixed blessing, IMHO. LucasArts really doesn't have a lot of MMORPG experience, but their single player games are, for the most part, ofpretty decent quality.

As long as they keep GreenMarine & JustG, I'm happy.

I always wondered how SWG can be so messed up. It's not like SOE wasn't provided with material to base the game off.

If LucasArts takes over the game, one things for sure. If the game doesn't comply with the time line, we can expect 2 answers. 1: "It will be fixed" or 2: "I does now, the time line has been altered, pray I don't alter it futher".

I would also expect that alot of SOE employees working on SWG would be offered a job at LucasArts. Why train new people? The time and cost saved by not having to do so would make LucasArts offering higher pay to get them to come over worth it.

I cannot believe that this thread has lasted so long without being jumped on.

If ever we needed proof that no-one at SOE ever reads the Smuggler forum, then this has to be it.

SOE wouldn't go out of business since in all technicallity it's not an independant company. If SOE gets put in court for a law suit it'll be bumped up straight to Sony headquarters. In which Sony will most likely "disband" SOE outright rather than facing legal action. The benefit of ruling subsidiaries is that when the S#$% hits the fan with it you can usually bypass legal actions by disbanding the subsidiary and whiping it from exitence. SOE is only called a "company" out of courtesy but in reality it can get bi$%# slapped to oblivion at some old foreigner's beck and call.
