There...you got me started again, and just when I was distracted by yet another non-random slicing thread.
For what it's worth, I have been "smuggling" goods for other players for quite some time, which is what led me to open Specialized Services back in December. For a variety of reasons, many players do not want to collect or transport their own goods across planets or even across the Galaxy (not enough free time, fear of contraband inspections, wanting to RP interaction with the underworld, just to name a few). I saw this as an opportunity toexpand my own horizons in-game and improve my ownexperience.
Except for the contraband searches, there is very little "danger" for a smuggler (or anyone else carrying illegal goods) in SWG...basically you are just transporting goods in a game where only NPCs have any authority to detain you...and even with the Imperial Crackdown it isn't that hard either. Regardless though, I humbly suggest that instead of continually whining that SOE doesn't give us enough to do in game that time is better spent figuring out ways to use the game to your own advantage. I firmly believe that what we put into the game is directly proportional to what we get out of it...and by "putting into it" I don't means simply grinding XP or running missions off terminals. This is where people who RP end up "getting more out of the game" than the power-players, grinders, and other non-RP players...they don't wait for someone else to make the game fun for them, they find ways to make the game fun for themselves. Personally, I think that the game was designed that way on purpose by SOE.
So while I agree that there are many things that could be improved and restructured in the game, I believe my own time is better spent finding new ways to enjoy it rather than waiting impatiently for it to change 
P.S. Before you go calling me a noob for being so optimistic, I have been playing the game for just over a year now.
P.P.S. Until I registered for the Forums this past Fall and started really reading them almost daily, I had no idea there were so many "problems" with SWG...I just accepted that we could do/have some things in the game and not do/have others. Sounds pretty simplistic, but it alsokeeps these discussions in perspective...at least for me
