Thread: Well guys.. we get shafted again..

"drop more from Bounty Hunter missions"... "more" is a comparative.

More than? Smuggler missions?

For crying out loud, we finally get decent loot from our missions, they're finally a challenge, and some people still complain because other people may be needed to make that loot useful to us. Well, guess what? Unless you're one of the two MBH/Master Armorsmiths in the entire game, you'll need someone to make use of the BH armor schematics too.

If there's any justice, the complainers will be the ones getting the jars of grubs.

I don't know about you, but as a Bounty Hunter, I need my weapons and armor sliced. Most smugglers will ask you to provide your own components unless you want to pay a high premium. Saying that it's stupid for smuggling components to drop for anyone but Smugglers would be like saying it's stupid for Krayt tissues to drop for anyone but Weaponsmiths.

So tellme then... what kind of loot DO you want the marks to drop? Some people are never satisfied - would you rather go back to the way it was?

First off... Loot... i want them to drop NO slicingLoot.. . A loot based slicing system is stupid. IMO

Second off.. i dont think that you need to tell anyone how to play his character. Would you care to ask, you might find out that alot of the Smuggler were or still are BH. Sorry, but thats nothin special here.

And Number 3..

Dude.. i dont know what dope you are smoking, but you better put it aside. But you have no reason to start flaming or start some fancy name calling. If i remember correctly it was you who started it

lets see..

I must be, though you're not hearing it. If you "already knew" that nothing you say would get the Dev's attention, you'd shut up already.

You're unimportant to them, despite what Mister Rogers always told you. You can shout all you want and they won't care, hell you can quit and they won't care. This forum isn't for us to talk to them - it's for us to talk to each other. They drop in when they damn well please, say something irrelevant/inaccurate/inconsiderate and flit away again. This somehow gives people like you the impression that you're being heard.

You're a fool - someone as dense as you shouldn't patronize others.

I dont see him flaming you..

You were asked, without flaming to settle down..

So, you don't ever get your gear sliced? Or do you think that a smuggler's going to provide the ICB for the damage slice on your gun? Accept that you will need the help of others to use some of the cool loot that will help you do your job better.

So Shaan'ti, you're saying it's cool for something to be looted on a regular basis from a high end, BH-only mark...while everyone else has to spend hours in space waiting for a really rare and random loot drop? That's what I think people are saying by the "drop more" statement.

It's funny, because at least with Krayt Tissues (even though only AS can really put use to them,) other people can loot them and make a little money. BHs are just about getting a stranglehold on the slicing market with this patch going to Live, because technically, they're the only people that can loot them on a fairly regular basis. How is that fair to Smugglers that DON'T have MBH in their template? How is that fair to ANYONE wanting a weapon slice that doesn't have BH? Yes, you're happy as a lark that this patch is going live, and there are a ton of other Smugglers that wouldn't mind it either...if the loot tables were tweaked to even give us a marginally better chance to loot that stuff off of the regular NPCs that we hunt down for these parts. However, that's not the case, which is why I believe many of us are a little more than miffed at this.

Then again, I suppose we should all pretty much be complacent at this point, now that the game is pretty much BH vs. Jedi.

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

That's a topic for another forum - the problem isn't how frequently they drop from Bounty Hunters. Yersm I agree that they don't drop frequently enough elsewhere - but the Smuggler forum is that way - - -> >

I just don't see the point in complaining when we finally get some overdue love.

Point being, slicing drops are just asuseful for the people who get them as they are for those who actually use them. I happen to be a Smuggler as well - believe me, I don't need to buy components from other people to slice my own gear, but if someone wants a slice involving an Illegal Core Booster, they'd better bring their own or expect to pay a LOT for one of mine.

So tellme then... what kind of loot DO you want the marks to drop? Some people are never satisfied - would you rather go back to the way it was?

I'm not saying it's stupid for smuggling components to drop for anybody but smugglers. I'm saying it's stupid for smuggling components to drop for anybody. Period. Smuggling components should be crafted - or ideally, rewarded for smuggling missions.

However, if they are going to drop as loot - then it doesn't make much bloody sense to have them drop in missions that smugglers aren't allowed to participate in. Yes it's great...people can go out and find their own components, or buy them for millions of dollars. Makes the smuggler pretty insignificant in the whole deal. How is that a good thing?

"Hmmm...I just bought this Illegal Core Booster for 2 million and this new rifle for 4 million and an ADK for 8 million...now I just need to go find some scrub or guildmate to click a button and put them together for meon the cheap."

or

"Hmmm...I really need this new rifle sliced. Let me go find a smuggler who can run a mission for Jabba real fast, steal some components and use them to improve my rifle."

What kind of loot should bounty missions drop? Hmmm...how about something a bounty hunter can use? Bounty Hunter armor...scatter pistols...pistol skill tapes, etc...

What benefit do those crystals and lightsaber attachments serve for a BH - other than the ability to trade it to their Jedi alt?

I guess the new FOTM will be Master BH, Master CM, Novice Merchant.

Oh come on - it makes perfect sense for them to drop from Bounty Hunter marks - they are Underworld content, illegal items you use to illegally modify your weapons, and there is nothing wrong for them to have a chance to drop from criminals which are, well, 99% of the BH marks. If anything, that's the most appropriate loot drop I've ever seen in SWG.

The problem isn't that they are dropping from BH marks, the problems are a) that they drop from Krayts and such which is completely silly, b) that they aren't a reward or an optional item you can "keep for yourself" for Smuggler missions which don't exist, and c) that they can't be made in an illegal weapons lab of some kind.

Tiggs, you're digging yourself into a hole here. You're in the Smuggler forum, a group of people of this profession who have been pushed out and forgotten for over two years. Now you're coming in and saying "sorry, we have more important things to do then mess with you Smugglers". That's not a bright thing to do. Almost all of us here are at our wit's end with the delays of the Smuggler revamp, crappy "fixes" and changes that are supposed to enhance our profession but simply furthur break it (see slicing).

The Devs have had two years to help us out, yet we've gotten zero love in all this time. Though I imagine if Smugglers ran around waving colored lightsticks and shooting lightning out of our fingers we'd be getting constant attention.

The profession is broken, pure and simple. We're tired of being ignored and pretty much just plain insulted. This has been going on far too long.

You may care about your customers, but you must mean only the customers who are Jedi and keep their mouths shut, right? Can't you guys see we've been oh so patient all this time, and the only thing we get in return in more and more grief. The Devs haven't even appologized once for the lack of attention to Smugglers, not once! And the whole "we're taking this much time so we can make the revamp as good as it can be" excuse doesn't work anymore.

The Devs need to get off their butt, get some work on Smuggler done, enhance (not break, enhance) the profession, put some other things asside that haven't been broken for as long as Smuggler, and get it done! The Devs here are horrible procrastinators, always saying "we'll do it tomorrow", and when tomorrow comes around they say they'll do it the next day.

Despite all this crap we've been given, the Smuggler community continues to stay strong. Heh, talk about loyalty to a profession.
We love our profession, and most of us are going to stuck with it through hell or high water. But we're getting sick of the lack of attention.

QFE.

I agree. It also bears mentioning that every Smuggler has at least 158 points to spend on other skills - they're only excluded from BH missions if they don't choose BH as their second main profession. The same way I'm excluded from doing the force Sensitive crafting quests because I don't have Artisan...

I have yet to come across a BH mission that I was "not allowed to participate in" for being a Smuggler too. As others have pointed out, they're good complementary professions and in a way it represents the "ultimate underworld" figure.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I don't take kindly to being patronized - and anyone who thinks "That's nice, tell me something I don't know" wasn't patronizing needs to look it up.

My concerns were valid and I took the time to explain why I felt the way I did. I supported my statements with evidence that is a matter of public record. If someone wants to blow that off with "that's nice" and then try and tell me what I can and cannot talk about, then it's personal.

And then if someone wants to tell me to shut up while defending someone else's "right" to say what he wishes... well the nicest words I can apply there are "illogical" and "hypocrite". So many people are always ready to defend others' right to speak, as long as they're saying what the person wants to hear.

I'll recap my ORIGINAL response for those who couldn't retain it through all this: Yes, SWG has more than its share of bugs, misplaced priorities and inattentive developers, but let's not pretend for a moment that WoW is any better. It's got all that plus unstable servers and totalitarian "community liaisons". That's why I quit WoW and came back here. If my experience is irrelevant to the issue, blast the person who first made the stupid claim that WoW is so much better, not me for disproving it.

The individual I blasted had a lot of nerve condescending to me and then pretending that he was so important that the Devs would reply to his bump. Sorry, but if they cared, we wouldn't have the problem to begin with... and every hour that this thread stays near the top without any official acknowledgment of the real concerns just goes to prove that.
