I couldn't resist any more. I finally went to the new Smuggler Icon. I think there'll be a lot of pillaging and looting to come. Hopefully some very nice looting. I've been doing more lurking than posting lately, stupid work, but just wanted to say "ahoy mates" and hang in there Smugglers, there is a bounty of treasure (content) out there in those seas, we'll find it or kill every brigand along the way. Well, I am a "space pirate"... I just can't do much pirating in space right now. 
Hopefully Smugglers will have some nice content coming sooner or later.

boarding parties, that would be sweet. honestly, if i were a dev, i couldn't wait to get my hands on smuggler content. honestly, what could be more fun to conceptualize than that? avoiding the "authorities", blockade running, boarding ships, dealing with the underbelly of society. you'd think they'd jump at the chance to just sit around a table with a pizza and think this stuff up! ah well.
ah well. *sings* some people saaaayyy i'm a dreamer. but i'm not the only one. *sings*

I love it.
We have the profession title of Smuggler yet we can't smuggle anything.
We have a little icon of a Pirate yet we can't really pirate anything (at least not anymore than anyone else).
We're drug dealers, tinkerers of weapons and armor and traders in faction points (which in and of it'self is a rather 'artificial' thing). That's all we are.

Not to mention the possability of NPC craft docking, boarding and inspecting your cargo!

Um...I'm an Imperial Colonel, in an Imperial craft. Who's gonna stop ME?
Don't get me wrong...I WANT this to be a reality. I just don't want the 1/3 of us who chose Imperial alignment to be locked out of such content.

Depends on the nature of whatever it is you're Smuggling and where you are. Could be you're getting a certain governer a rare and very expensive something or other from the planet of one of his rivals who would be just as interested in getting their hands on it. It's harder for Imperials than neutral and Rebel players, but possible none the less to come up with scenarios and situations where your Smuggling skills are required and you're still going to get boarded.
Throw in some animosity between Imperial Navy and Army officers and you've got yourself a problem;Throw together some PC space missions involving boarding PC ships on potential PvP consensual missions (i.e. if you get caught and you resist, you can fight).
I guess we'll just have to see what comes our way and be sure to let the guys and gals in red what we think when it does..

dreven, you ever hear of Sir Francis Drake? the Queen of England's favorite ship captain. of course the spanish thought he was the worst pirate to ever prey on a spanish plate ship. i'm thinking you'd kinda fit in there. you would be "seizing this cargo for the empire". yeah, that's what i'm doing....
