Apparently the default setting for everyone with the new patch is combatant. There are people saying they're loading to find themselves dead.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Just wonderful. Jor's a civilian, but a Rebel pilot. They said they were going to make Rebel Pilots ground Rebels with the patch, and not expecting it today, I wasn't ready. I'll spawn as a combatant and... Grrrr.

Anyone remember if there are Imperials in the Dant Mining Outpost besides that Colonel outside the cantina? I never notice...

Interesting. I logged off as covert, as I always am, and found myself 'Combatant' today, which I switched to 'On leave' ASAP. (And, in the process, witnessed a single full-composite-wearing Imperial kill all the new NPC Rebel guards in Anchorhead in half a minute, with all the PC Rebels watching and being unable to do a single thing. So much for the 'immersion-adding' factor of the TEF removal. Bah.)

Also - it seems my faction standings have shifted slightly, has anyone noticed that? I could swear I was at around 450 Imperial and exactly 1000 Rebel, and now I'm at 350/750-ish. Weird.

Thanks for the clarification... I was going off of the experiences of another... It seems to be random judging by some of the other posts... or you're just the lucky one.

That's kind of screwed seeing as how you can switch ground faction whenever you want but space faction you have to re-grind.

Ohhh that is gonna sting. Logged out covert standing infront of Theed Spaceport. Not gonna be happy if I log in dead and have decay on the armor shipment I have on me that is to go on a vendor for a friend. Some kind of warning would have been nice so we could be prepared for a major GCW shift.

That's not supposed to happen....

As for Dant, no, I don't think there's any about, besides, it's the cities on Tat, Corellia and Naboo that have a heavy troop presence, not the other planets.

Logged in Special forces in Bestine intending to vote in the morning. BAH! Teaches me to have civic duty. Anyway I made it out of town tho my first speeder bike did not. Now i need to have a few angry words with a recruiter.

A Trick i do i slog into anotehr Server first then log back out and when you log into your normal server it load MUCH MUCH Faster, allowing people to get on their feet quickly.

How does one make the switch from Special Forces to Combatant to On Leave - is it still talking to a recruiter?

Yep, you talk to a recruiter to go down the ladder, attack an NPC to go up to PvE enabled and select anenemy PvP enabled player and choose to go PvP enabled (5 min waiting time), or just use a recruiter for every instance.

Apparentlyit is not a good idea to just log out.anywhere you at anytime.

I remember the system messages about the server reboots--

Find a safe place to log out.

I also logged in a couple times to find my poor DBed body lying on the cold hard ground.

I learned to find a safeplace to hide while loggin out and back in.
