So I loaded into the new GCW system last night with some trepidation...would I be killed loading like many people were saying? Was this going to suck or Rock?....

My ship was trashed in space learning PVP with a friend of mine and as a rebel Colonelthe last place on tatyou wanna load with wounds is Bestin. So as any good unprepared for a fight smuggler would do I called a Bomb droid and picked a nice out of the way spot to meditate my wounds away. Many, manySF Imperials and 2 red dots at what seem to be the door of the star port. "Great" I think to myself "Im not looking for a fight tonight". See I had to meet a friend but needed to fix my ship first and there is this great little ship shop out side bestin...I needed to get past those troopers.... Deciding to run and not fight I pull food, drink and spice plus my DE-10 (just in case). I walk, not run closer to the main door to get a look at whats going on bomb droid in tow. Lucky me a rebel took out the trooper to the right of the entrance but was killed by the 2nd one. So I do what any good smuggler would do...I send my bomb droid over to the feet of the trooper and flush against the wall Islip slowly with DE-10 in hand right past him! Haa! stupid trooper did not even see me, damn im good. I start toexit the city and think to myself the AV might not be the best ride tonight so I grabmy bike and just after it comes up some Imp officer from out of no where starts shooting! No agro's just him....Pop some spice then I kill him....jump on my bike and head out to the shop.As Im driving out I land right in the heart of a full patrol of Imps, blaster bolts fly past me as I leave them in the dust and make it to the shop. I need to go on leave or I will never make it out to meet my friend so after I get my repair kits I think to myself "Anchorhead" thats where I need to go and get these Imps off my back! So I head out and what do I see when I get there...rebels tons of rebels and in uniform! I feel safe for the first time since I logged in, I felt home. Went on leave fixed the ship and hooked up with my pal.....

I love this new system I really do you... can be on leave and not fight or be combat ready and fight a little or go full on SF. In this new system it was the first time I needed to have a bomb droid and weapon out and at the ready and the first time I really felt like a sneaky smuggler it was exciting and with out the fear of being PWN'd by a player who was looking for a fight (like i said I had somewhere to be). I can see that will be in combat mod 60% of the time SF 30% and on leave only when I have plans to meet up with other people. I got to feel like I was in the movies for the first time since I started playing. While Im very unhappy with the treatment of our profession I have to admit they are going good work in other area's. Nice job on the GCW dev's.

That sounds like a fun time. I havent tried it yet but i am trying to figure out how i want to play. Will i be a combatant most of the time? Will i be "on leave" and work for both factions with a hidden loyalty to the rebellion? I think i am leaning more to always being a combatant and only helping my rebels. ahhh, the tough questions in life

Oh, don't you worry. I will be there, using my burgeoning abilities with the Force to help find my missing friend.

That's a great story Yim, thanks for sharing it. It is these types of scenarios that i envision as a constant when SOE tagged the game "live the saga". These types of situations (but of course more closely reflecting smuggler type scenarios) should happen at least a half a dozen times a game session.

I love where they are going if this is the direction of all publishes. It's has been exciting for me to think what direction I would like to go as a civilian Smuggler. I purposely kept my FP low on both sides fo the fence so that I could easily switch sides if I wanted to. Now I will get to experiment with both and choose, or decide to stay neutral and choose a side as my whimsy and business lead me.

Let's hope that any induction of an underworld is brought forth in the same vein as this new GCW. or is it GSW eh Yim??

Just kidding, man!

i dont know what to do, the thought of being a civilian sounds cool but i can't stand those imps, J/K. Being an "on-leave" rebel sounds cool too but i dont know why an "on-leave" rebel colonel would work for imperials. I think i might just have to go all out rebel. hmmmmmmm

you bastag-is will never let me hear the end of that one will ya.

I got one stared over in the GCW forum for this post which I find funny. The battle of the carebear vs the griefer seems to be in full affect over there. Personally I was pissed when they did away with tef but if the trade off is more action and over all immersion then I'm all for it.

I love the new changes. Joras = all Special Forces all the time. Running around yesterday was quite a thrill. I can honestly say that once a few things get tweaked this will REALLY help PvP. It was nice to get into a good scrum and not have folks TEFing in.

No, no we won't!

That's just lame! There is no reason to 1-star you. I thought it was a good little story of why this has been fun for you. I've heard others talk about how much more excitement there is in the game, and it's a good thing! Who wants a static world?!

I can understand crafters and others maybe needing a safe place to be able to live in their Carebear world, but don't knock people who play this game for fun, adventure, and excitement their titillation!

Kick 'em in the nads and go have fun Yim!

I'll cover ya!

I somewhat wonder if we didn't get some kind of stealth fix that allows us to sneak by opposing faction. I went to a small base battlefield we have set up tonight intent on gettin some agression out on npc's. (Now I am known to always be Overt or now SF) so I of course am again. I wasn't paying any attention and ran right up to a small group of imp st's. Oddly enough they didn't open fire but started looking for the disturbance. (the little question marks over their heads and all.) So after that I had to go planet hopping. I even ran around in Theed. I got detected by some super trooper on steroids on the out skirts of town. I love the new patch even if I caint fd to escape. Who needs fd when your a crafty smuggler? LOL

Speaking of GCW experiences.... has anyone else encountered any of the main characters out in the game yet?

I was in Coronet when a shuttle landed outside the starport in the plaza -- right on top of two doctors buffing. Out steps a few rebels along with Leia who stood there, gave a recruitment speech, and then left.

Kinda pointless, but it did make things kind of interesting.
