Despite repeated PMs sent to Taurin, I have yet to ever see an official word on this.

Until that official word comes, I'd chalk it up as an exploit.

Though I wish they would give us a word one way or the other.

Of our 4 possible slicing outcomes (Speed, Damage, Encumb, Effect), the PuP thing only "works" to improve 1...Damage...

If you try it with a speed powerup and get a speed slice, you actually make the weapon WORSE. And there aren't any armor PuPs...so there's no way to make that work.

*shrug*...I really don't see anything wrong with getting an extra 15-20 points of Damage using this method...but, like I said, I'll call it an exploit until some kind of official statement is made.

If I woulda pulled the powerup trick on my current de-10, it wouldn't have been an extra 10-15 points of damage.. woulda been more in the neighborhood of 60+ . Its bad enough being able to hit someone for 1600+ points of damage in pvp with last ditch, can you imagine what people would be saying if you were hitting them for 1800+ ?

On lower-mid end weapons it doesn't seem like much, but when you start getting into the high end krayt, exceptional and legendary stuff it can make an already unbalanced weapon, even more insane.

How can you say that you do not know if it is an exploit or not?

Game mechanics tells you that you may not slice a weapon with a powerup. You must remove the powerup to slice the weapon, so putting a powerup on DURING slicing is considered against game mechanics.

It is an exploit, there is no need for an official statement.

This is an exploit.

Agreed. Just say "NO" to Powerup Slicing!

Ok...just for fun, lets "exploit" a weapon.

I pulled these stats off of a post that I just came across, and it's a month or so old...so these may not reflect current stats in the game...but anyway...here we go.

Weapon: Geo Pistol

Damage: 113-206 (unsliced)

-75% (PvP reduction): 28-52

Against opponent with Ranged Mitigation-

Ranged Mitigation 1: 28-47

Ranged Mitigation 2: 28-42

Ranged Mitigation 3: 28-38

Apply 35% Damage Slice-

Damage: 153-278

-75% (PvP reduction): 38-70

Against opponent with Ranged Mitigation-

RM 1: 38-64

RM 2: 38-57

RM 3: 38-51

Apply +33% Max Damage P-up (No slice)

Damage: 113-274

-75% (PvP reduction): 28-69

Against opponent with Ranged Mitigation-

RM 1: 28-61

RM 2: 28-53

RM 3: 28-45

Apply 35% Damage Slice, add +33% Max Damage P-up after slice

Damage: 153-370

-75% (PvP reduction): 38-93

Against opponent with Ranged Mitigation-

RM 1: 38-82

RM 2: 38-71

RM 3: 38-60

Now...let's "exploit" it...

Damage after slice is complete: 153-370

Damage after P-up is removed: 153-302

-75% (PvP reduction): 38-76

Against opponent with Ranged Mitigation-

RM 1: 38-69

RM 2: 38-61

RM 3: 38-54

Apply +33% Max Damage P-up to "exploited" pistol

Damage: 153-401

-75% (PvP reduction): 38-101

Against opponent with Ranged Mitigation-

RM 1: 38-88

RM 2: 38-76

RM 3: 38-63

Conclusion: Using the P-up "exploit" on this particular weapon gained 3-7 points of PvP max damage, and 28-31 points of max PvE damage.

BTW: Just for the record, I'm not saying it's right or wrong...I'm just presenting arguments for both sides here...

And yes...I just worked all that math out on paper...

That's a low end geno at best. The higher the damage goes, the higher higher the differences are going to be thanks to the use of %'s for everything. now try that on say... a legendary t21 with 1200 max damage and see what kind of difference that makes. Not to mention you're not taking any account for the damage multipliers of specials. It's going to increase almost exponentially with real high end weapons.

no no no i wasnt talking about your idea. I was talking about how when you slice 1 wire then equip a pup then slice the other wire it has the same outcome

To make the math work, I need the min and max damages...not just the max.

And damage multipliers can be taken into account on any of the stats I posted above. Just take the base and multiply it by whatever special you're using.

I also didn't take any armor into account...

I'm just working with base stats here...

Somebody give me some high-end stats to work with and I'll see what I can come up with after lunch.

If you post stats, make sure they're unsliced...
