I'm ashamed that the dev's haven't implemented any of these suggestions for smuggler's, everyone's got great ideas. I have an idea of my own that I'm sure no one thought of yet, Ijust thought of it last night, so don't expect details.

I would like to see a smuggler be able to disquise himself as another profression, i.e, master doctor. Think about it, you /tell a master doctor for some buff's late at night, the doc says he will charge you 20k for some good buffs, your desperate so you say yes. You meet with him, he buffs you like any other doc would and you see that the stat mod's are taking affect, but then they start to wear off usaully the same time spices wear off. Great HUh? I would be pissed, but I would be like, "damn it! I just got ripped off! oh well, I 'm glad to see that they fixed smuggler's profession!"

They could pose as overt imperials when they are actually rebel. They could have a title of any master title, but not necessarily posess it, hence a new tree titled "Bluffing". Well thats about it, let meknow what you think. Good? Not good?

That would just be asking griefers to take advantage of the populace.

Well that's what I'm trying to say, this is where griefing will be allowed, thus putting bounties on smuggler's heads. With what you are saying, yes griefing is pretty lame whne your trying to have fun but this world isn't a perfect one, neither should galaxies. I hate when i see people griefing the faction terminals, but then again it is a war with two sides. It would be nice to have the griefing where it should be, with the smuggler's.

I like that idea very much - as long as the smuggler gains a TEF to the person he ripped off. Yay for grieving - and yay for countermeasures against grieving.

As the recent credit dupe has shown, there are people in the game that actually want to cause harm, grief and annoyance; People who want to cause havoc and ruin people's playing experience. Were this to be implemented Smuggler would become the haven forthese kind of players (I use the word loosely). As is, the Smuggler professions, for the most part, is taken up by decent people, the quality of this forum's community testement to that, the fact that Smugglers take high end weapons and armour of people and then willingly give them back day in day out is a testement to that.

The addition you suggest would dothree things.

  1. Ruin the good name of Smugglers and the quality of people taking up the profession,

  2. Create a great amount of distrust in the game,

  3. Distract from and possibleyremove the possability of the developers ever putting what Smugglers want in this game - Smuggling.

Nope... can't find one redeeming quality about this idea. I just see alot of greifing with noob players taking the brunt of it. e.g.

  1. The noob finally runs enough missions to get his first buff.

  2. The noob getting screwed out of his hard earned cash

  3. The noob getting killed when the Master Smuggler/TKA/Pistoleer is TEFed.

  4. Said smuggler laughing at noob corpse shouting "NOOB, I PWN3D U!!!"

  5. Noob clones.

  6. Now the noob is out of the first 20k he saved up and is looking toward working up the funds again. Wondering what other wonderful experiences this game has in store for him.

  7. Noob cancels account

The idea of TEF may seem to mitigate this ability but it doesn't. Even if the victim could loot the smugglers corpse and take all their items and their money back. The type of person who would use this will defiantly make sure the deck is stacked in their favor in a fight.... or just feign death.

Yes, there are a$$holes in the real world and life isn't fair. In the real world, we don't have a choice. Here, on the otherhand, we do. If you want a 100% life simulation in all it's gritty realism, push yourself away from the keyboard.

That has to be the worst idea for smuggler I have ever read (no crotch-grabbing animation jokes either...that's cool!). I'm not trying to be mean but like everyone else said, you're legit smugglers wouldn't be trusted just because of the possible grief factor.

As far as the title change...that's been brought up before but more detailed. Call it "Fake IDs". Randomly changes your name to something else and maybe gives you a different title. If you have a bounty on you and you're traveling from/to a planet, it may have something to do with a chance of the bounty hunter losing you since the ship registry to/from that planet would have the fake name/title. Han used this extensively in the HST (Vyke Drago anyone?).

Yup. Bad idea. Here's your problem:

"...this is where griefing will be allowed..."

Greifing should never be allowed.

Not only would this idea breed distrtrust for smugglers, it'd create distrust for Doctors, and everyone else that the smugglers could impersonate.

Perhaps the title thing would be interesting for a laugh, but giving them actual abilities would only ruin people, as for the good name thing I absolutely agree, I've kept my name clean for a year as a smuggler, people would come 4,000 meters before vehicles to get slices from me because they knew I wouldn't rip them off.

Yeah, the newbloods out there seem to be taking the idea of Smugglers being the criminal element in the game just a bit too far.

While the fake ID suggestion is good, this one is deffinately not. Its the equivilent of pretending to be a vallet at a club without vallet parking. The person who got thier car stolen isn't gonna go. "Hell, my car just got stolen, but at least they made it easier forthieves to steal from others."
