Great Post Dreven. IMO all legit smugglers need to do this math every time they see a sliced weapons vendor. I've had to warn a few WS about stuff on their vendor. If we don't keep the smuggler population honest then who will

i wrote a program on my calculator do i don't have to the work or write down the formulae. for all you ti-83/86 owners here it is.
isp "Input Damages"
:Input "Preslice Max",A
:Input "Postslice Max",B
:Input "Preslice Min",C
:Input "Postslice Min",D
(((B)-(A))/(B))*100)->E
(((D)-(C))/(D))*100)->F
isp "Max Percent",E
isp "Min Percent",F
:End
if the 2 displayed numbers are equal, the slice is good
the "->" is supposed to be store on the 86 it's right above the on button
:Input "Preslice Max",A
:Input "Postslice Max",B
:Input "Preslice Min",C
:Input "Postslice Min",D
:End
if the 2 displayed numbers are equal, the slice is good
the "->" is supposed to be store on the 86 it's right above the on button

:,Disp "Input Damages"
:Input "Preslice Max=",A
:Input "Postslice Max=",B
:Input "Preslice Min=",C
:Input "Postslice Min=",D
:,((((B)-(A))/(B))*100)->E
:,((((D)-(C))/(D))*100)->F
:,Disp "Max Percent=",E
:,Disp "Min Percent=",F
:End
sorry about the smilie things
take out the commas before the parenthises and display comands and it'll work
equals signs on the displayed commands are also nice

Hi!
Fairly new as smuggler, and only recently heard about the pup slice thing. Havent had time to research it, so i didnt know if it worked. Guessing it does from this post. So is there a reason why not everybodys doing this? Shouldnt me and my weaponsmith friend do this to get the best possible weapons for sale?

i just realized you could put in if/then commands and do something like
:if E=F
:then disp "good"
then some other stuff like bad if they don't equal, i'm not that good at programing so i don't know if/then commands that much, but the first program works

Well if devs fail to make any of our wishes come trough, and they even throw new bugs in our faces. Does it hurt that much if we take advantage of the bugs that actually help us? Btw the reason that im asking here is to get peeps opinions so no reason to go SIZE 500 ANGRY CAPS ON ME CAUSE I'M STILL NOT PUP SLICING, and i wont do it either if noone else is, if U DONT PUSH ME TO IT!!!

It seems that you need to know the base stats to be able to calculate this... if I was exploiting I would conviently not name the weapon to include the base stats in the title. Is there any way to figure whether something was pup sliced without knowing the base stats? I feel like I'm missing something.

If a weaponsmith has a number of the same weapon on the vendor, check out the speeds and damages. The highest (and most common) speed will be the base speed, and the lowest (and most common) damage will be the base damage. You then use these to figure out what the base stats of the weapon are. It works the same on armor by comparing the encumbrance and effectiveness.

Been lots of discussion about this lately, so I pulled out my notebook and "exploited" a weapon on paper.
For simplicity, I used a weapon with 50-100 damage. And exploited it with a 16/33 min/max P-up...(making the damage 58-133 before slice)...
Here are the % results compared to legitimate slicing percentages.
Legit (reported) result Exploit equivalent (min / max) after P-up is removed
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15% 18% / 20%
16% 18% / 21%
17% 20% / 23%
18% 20% / 24%
19% 22% / 25%
20% 24% / 27%
21% 24% / 28%
22% 26% / 30%
23%26% / 31%
24% 28% / 32%
25%28% / 33%
26% 30% / 35%
27%32% / 36%
28% 32% / 37%
29% 34% / 39%
30% 34% / 40%
31% 36% / 41%
32% 36% / 43%
33% 38% / 44%
34% 38% / 45%
35%40% / 46%
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Because of how the game rounds up and down, some of these may not match up.
And, although I used 50-100 as my original stats, I've tested this on higher numbers as well, and they hold true all the way down the list.
So...if you know the original stats of your weapon, either by the creator having them in the weapon name, or having a speed sliced counterpart, and you question weather or not the slice on it is legit, use the following formula to figure out what percentage your max damage was sliced for:
[(Sliced Max - Original Max) / Original Max] x 100= X%
Then apply the same formula to figure the percentage that the min was sliced for.
[(Sliced Min - Original Min) / Original Min] x 100 = Y%
If X% = Y%, the slice on your weapon is legit.
If X and Y are different, or either is over 35%, odds are it was sliced using the P-up exploit.

First, I believe SOE has STATED that this is an exploit.
Second, we are smugglers IN CHARACTER, play a shadey character IN-GAME if you want. When you exploit you are being a cheater IN REAL LIFE. If you don't see that difference go talk to your mamma about it, she left something out of your ethics education.
