Thread: Why do I leave myself searchable?

So there I am hunting something or other with my guild mates last night, when I get the tell that reminds me that I forgot to uncheck the box for being searchable. Guy is not only rude but can't understand the term "I'm kinda busy right now" and how my prices go up when I'm busy and the customer has a bad attitude. Anyway, just kinda venting on that little /addignore episode.

Because you're a glutton for punishment like the rest of us poor souls who've been Smugglers forever and keep holding out hope that we'll get fixed...

Because you feel an overwhelming desire to add new stories to the "A chuckle for the Smuggler" Thread?

I thought there was a thread for these types of stories....the long version is actually kind of amusing now that I've gotten some sleep. Guess I'll have to go put a full write up in there.

Or what about a noob asking for help?

I mean, I wasn't realy in it for the first time he wanted me to help him powerlevel.

"Help me plz. I need <insert random combat related xp>"

Like I am a tank or something... So I lethim "convince" me. (more like "not having to hear ever again of him again...")

So I have my "fun" time helping and get a whoopie reward ~12k credits (lair + a tip of change money)

And guess what happens while I am in a swarm of TIEs 2 days later?

*pling* "u help me plz/w another lair?"

*twitch*

Give them a finger and they take your arm. If he had asked me how to become a jedi I would have reached through the screen and strangled him to death.

*sigh* I like helping people... realy... some are just dead annoying...

LOL me either.

On a related note, my first month in this game all I would ask people for was if there were any hunting groups going on. Then I found the galaxy forums and asked all my game-related questions there. people were nice enough to help where they could, but never would I ask for creds, help with a mission, or any kind of free-ride.

Although I am having one b!tch of a time with one of my Imp Pilot missions ATM... and I just left my guild. So much for help from there. LOL.

Until slicing is fixed, this has been my answer as well.

I have search off until slicing is worthwhile. All it took was a couple disappointing slices and I decided it wasn't worth the hassle for a couple credits.

Once the new slicing is implemented, the factory goes down and I will create the new tool if necessary, and I will get back to work.

I am used to rolling without being searchable, though. It's a habit I picked up when I was a doc. "Hey pls come rez me I am in the geo caves I will tip u!!!1!!1one!!"

I don't get pestered too often... I've had 'Master Smuggler' up loud and proud since I made it and have been searchable the whole time.

Speaking about newbs, though... I landed in Coronet the other night and someone was spamming a beg for money. Something like "Can someone give me some credits? I'm new." I was about to say 'what did you spend your starting 75K on???' when I ran past the spammer... a hot human chick toon in one of those ropey dancer outfits. On my way to the cantina, I asked her if she'd spent all her money on the outfit. She said yes... and I suggested that maybe she should go ENTERTAIN in the cantina for tips rather than begging at the starport. She came by, danced away my battle fatigue and I tipped her 5K.

Give someone fish, they eat for a day... teach them to fish... well, you know the story.

When beggars ask for money I just tell them to go to the Imperial Welfare Office and ask for a guy named "Darth Vader" who will give them everything they want. Of course one brain asked me if I was "mocking" him. I replied "of COURSE I'm mocking you, you idiot! Go out and do missions like the rest of us."

The most ghastly such story though, was the moron who /shouted to all and sundry that he was going to report me to SOE because I wouldn't sell him my goggles for even 1 million credits. I told him several times that they were no trade items but he kept screaming obscenities at me. /addignore worked well that day, as well as /narc.
