Thread: I´ll be d@mned: an apology from SoE
On behalf of the entire LucasArts and SOE SWG team, we wanted to take this opportunity to apologize for a recent change we made regarding group experience (XP) rates. With Publish 22, we attempted to fix an unintended game play mechanic that we introduced with the Combat Upgrade earlier this year. Specifically, we wanted to correct a large divergence between the rate at which experience (XP) could be earned in a solo setting versus a group setting. After this change hit live, we were presented with a mountain of feedback describing how this change had a major negative impact on your enjoyment of the game. We want to let you know that we hear you and we value your feedback. You were right: we made a mistake on this one and we reversed out the change because of that feedback. We continue to learn from experience and pledge to improve our process for bringing you timely updates to Star Wars Galaxies.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you in the game!
Sincerely,
Julio Torres

Although words are cheap and this apology does not cover two years of neglect of the Smuggler profession, I still declare this as a day to behold. Too badSmugglers don't have a lobby at SoE or LA.

We're sorry that we slowed down your FS grind. We realize that everyone who creates an account really wants a jedi character. When someone put in the exp changes, they didn't realize that it would result in people having to AFK grind for so long. We've shortened the AFK grind back to its original level to make it easier for everyone -- because everyone likes an easy game with no risk or challenge. Please accept our apology and rest assured that we'll continue to do everything in our power to keep s**king the jedi's d**ks to make them happy.

OMFG! This has gotten to the point of being down right comical. Almost like the keystone cops. Hey Julio and Todd, wheres the long awaited aplogy for the "major negative impact on your enjoyment of the game" that a lot of the other professions (Smuggler, Squad Leader, DE, Artisan, Ranger, etc.)have been dealing with forone and in some cases over two years. Let's get an apology and quick action to fix these professions.
Yah I know.... not effing likely because our "major negative impact on your enjoyment of the game" doesn't affect the Jedi profession so to hell with us right.
Ya bunch of hypocrtical jerks!
Yup. This game is broken beyond repair. About a year ago, with some work, ithad a chance of becoming what we all want. But now it is what it is. A random MMO set in a Star Wars design.

Too little, too late. They've got much more to fix before I'll accept.
That, I believe, is the dev vision for us. We're tourist attractions. We're the guys in the cartoon character suit who wander around "in character" while kids get their pictures taken with us and we sweat our sacks off inside the suit wondering if we'll ever get a real job or why we didn't go work somewhere else."
Sad to think that was all the way back at Publish 8
Edit: On a side note, I think it good that they apologised for it in the way they did, perhaps a sign of the way the current producer handles things. A pitty that actual injustices (as I see this latest incident as rather a mistake than skulduggery of any kind) went by without a similar post in the past.

Meh, that link got me reading that old thread again and TH's responses about what was next after ID's mini publish and the phone calls that'd happen between Caylin and himself to sort things out..

Took a +250 page thread and god alone knows how many cancellations to make that happen, Wes. Because you see, that particular shafted everyone. Jedi most of all (good) but everyone.
Shaft the smugglers and we're the only ones who notice. And i mean "we", those who post on this forum. Because the smugglers in-game don't know what they've been promised if they don't read it here, especially given the way GarVa likes to delete concept threads without a word of warning.
So, a minority of a minority complains, and maybe cancels.
While in-game smugglers respec or regrind but that almost certainly will never be noticed by the Producers, because those accounts stay live.

Unfortunately it was an apology they shouldn't have given on an xp change they shouldn't have reversed. Oh well.
Ditto
