Can smuggler's slice ship components? I don't see any posts about it.

No, smuglers Can NOT slice ship parts.. the only ones who can actualy modify them would be a Shipwright, and that would be by Reverse Enginereing Looted Components.. Trust us, if we could, here'd be a hell of alot more chuckle for the smuggler fodder...

Hmmm, there was a dev post long ago about it- I guess maybe after the revamp in 2006.

Ya know, I knew throughout Beta that we couldn't slice anything, none of the armor, weapons, etc and I guess I can see the logic in that - with everything integrated in a starship, it's not like rigging a hand weapon. But to give the Smuggler no slicing ability or ability to modify starships just bugs me to no end.
At the least I think we should have been able to offer sliced astromech/flight computer programs.

I seem to recall a certain smuggler in the star wars movies who "Jerry-rigged" almost all of the components on his ship. Sounds an awefull lot like slicing to me.
So, if Han can do it, why cant we?

I say that ships weapons and engines should be slicable, just maybe not to the extent that hand-held weapons are.

I agree to an extent...it shouldn't be slicing, it should be jerry-rigging but it's determined by slicing xp.

Even if it was just engines I'd be happy......so far my privateer ships are really slow and sluggish, so if I could make it perform as well as a tie with 2 gun mounts ill be happy

HAHAHAHA.....wait a sec....My Smuggler can, it is called taking up Ship Wright and reverse engineering and making my own ships and parts...I guess that is sorta like slicing, cause when you rename your RE component I always name it, "Sliced (component name here)".

There's a thought.. perhaps RE points should be handed out in the slicing tree. It is a short-term easy to do fix that would at least let us KIND of slice.

We never saw Han Solo craft any spices... meaning he probably was only still at spices 1 or less...
We never saw him feign death, meaning he didn't even have dirty fighting 1
We did see him understand Greedo, so he must have had at least under world connection 1, or maybe he spammed in Bestine begging to get the languages.
We never saw him talk about or display any sort of sliced gear... so he didn't have any slicing skills?
So Han solo was a Novice Smuggler? In that case, it gives him a whole lot of skill points left to become shipwright.
Han Solo is just another Nublet with only pistol 2 (he never uses anything higher then DL44) doing the Jabba Theme park. And taking up Privateer as his main proffesion.

Well no, at some point he specifically said he was in it for the money, hence of course spice wouldn't be his thing
This isn't the same as him not being able to make them.
