Hey guys I just got master smuggler today, and wanted to learn more about faction point selling, is that a good money maker for you guys out there?

When selling and delegating faction I have seen pricing of smugglers for this between 100credit to 125 credit per fp. A Master Smuggler Colonel delegate 118 to send 100. The smuggler gets it 125fp for 10,000 credits. I looked in the faction selling guid and isnt mentioned on the loss. For example. I want to buy 5000 fp. Lets say cost. 80 credits per fp = 400,000 credits. To delegate 5000fp is total of 10900 fp. Or am I missing something.. sorry for the ignorance

Just trying to understand it all and how not to loosr money in this.

I created a Faction Point calculator that you can use which will tell you everything you need to know. It is located here. Just right click on the FactionCalc.exe link and choose "Save As.." to download.

The only requirement is that you have the Microsoft .NET framework installed, which is a free download through Windows Update.

Interesting, your EXE was flagged by Norton System Security for trying to access my DNS server when executed. I refused it access and the program crashed. I'm very hesitant on downloading exe files from people from sites I know not of. No calculator for me!

You buy 125 faction points for 10,000 credits.

10000 / 125 = 80 credits per point is what you're buying it for. Let's say you sell it for 80 credits too.

So say you're a Colonel and you delegate 100 points to your client. You lose 118. 118 x 80 = 9440. 100 x 80 = 8000. The 18 points lost in the transfer equals 1440 credits lost if you sold your faction at 80 credits per 100 faction points sold.

So now say you're a Colonel and you're selling for 120 credits per point. You delegate 100 points to your client. You lose 118. 118 x 80 = 9440. 100 x 80 = 8000. 118 x 120 = 14160. Now, instead of losing 1440 credits per 100 points delegated, you're actually gaining 4720 credits.

To break even, you have to sell faction for 94.4 credits per point at Colonel level. Any price over that you will render a profit. Hope that helps!

Thanks. That was well explained and makes perfect since. BTW I had te same problem with that calculter.

That's interesting. Did you actually download the EXE or just run it from the website. If you tried to run it from the website, .NET applications get a little weird about running over a network and the .NET framework does some crazy stuff. However, if you download the calculator, feel free to run a scan on it as it is the simpilist C# program I've ever written (all of 50 lines of code).

Anyways, I hope others find it useful.

Yes, you are correct, it works much better when downloaded. It's very simple and would prove very useful to those buying and selling FP. THose selling will easily be able to calculate profits and totals. Those buying will know how much they are being ripped off! LOL

Thanks Korrack.

I'm glad you were able to get it working for you. It is very simple, but also very effective. I wrote it in about 15 minutes one night when I was sick of doing the calculations by hand, and I haven't made any changes to it since. One of these nights I might spruce it up a bit. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

The calculator is awesome. I was trying to figure it out by hand until now, its great! Kudos to you.

Ill get Colonel in Rebel very, very soon and hopefully in the JTL launch the idea of buying FP goes up.
