So as the title states, I did "Pay what you think it's worth" for slicing, sence I have heard many people have had nice succsess with it. EHHHHH...WRONG. I did about 30 jobs over the weekend and got crap for payment, two people just walked away, and the rest paid way less than the ussual 10k a piece I charge. Maybe it's just my server (Sunrunner), or maybe a got a bunch of noobs that don't know how much it's worth, I don't know, but I'm dropping that like a bag of bricks I never had to carry in the first place.

Interesting... I did 2 PSGs and 4 Carbines for a guy today. Got lucky and he got Effectiveness on both PSGs and Damage on 3 of 4 carbines. I told him 6k each (30k total) . He paid me 40k. Some guys are cool some are cheap.

it can depend on the server (naritus myself) and i have done such jobs in the past and had very good results and extremely bad results. Been paid 100k for a slice once but also like yourself i have had people walk away and some even complain if it was a crappy slice. I guess some players just arnt smart OR mature enough to realise we're taking time out from our game time to stop and slice for them. They dont understand how much grief we have to deal with sometimes. What i started doing was to not click accept in the trade window untill payment has been made via bank or trade window. If they dont get the hint i let em know
Tipping is not a town on Tatooine
be ruthless, if they refuse to pay refuse to hand over there lovely krayt enhanced weapon, that soon changes there mind

I'm on Sunrunner too and whenever I do pay what you I get pretty good payment. But then again I hardly slice. So I must be lucky.

I think it might also be reputation, you have been a smuggler for longer...folks know ya. They might not have the same respect for a smuggler they don't know.

For my customers who come back to me time and time again, I let them pay what they think is right, and 9 out of 10 times its 20% more than what my rate is. But for average Joe I have a set rate, you don't like it tough bantha poo doo, don't waste my time. And I never accept the trade untill I get paid. I'm here to make credits, I'm no charity service.

My smuggler toon does not yell that he is slicing. He only has the rouge title up so less people bug him for slicing. When he does agree to slice, he base the price on the person. Did he make you wait, was he a pain in the ... and so on. He'll either say a price or when he is done will say pay what you think it's worth. Have not done pay what you think it's worth much but when I've done it I've gotten more then my normal fee. Not sure what I will charge when and if the new slicing comes out. Do you want to slice a weapon which could fail and ruin the weapon?

listen, i've used this as an ID, it sometimes backfires on you.. i did it out of my nature, and not as a ploy, but sometimes i got 5k for a stat migration, 15k, 20k and of course 0k
but here is the best thing you can do
"Doing Stat migrations for whatever you want to pay, Of course the usual price is 10k"
People dont be cheap and tip under..usually

If I slice something for someone and they refuse to pay, they get one more chance to get it back at double the price. If they don't, then I keep it. No questions about it. After that, they can buy it from me for what I believe its worth.

Sounds good to me. ![]()
ButI never tell people "pay what you think it's worth". If I did that, I'd go broke. When I slice, I charge 20k. Simple as that, no question asked. Sometimes I'll feel nice and drop the price to 10k per piece, but no lower. If they don't want to pay that, then they can find someone else to slice.

I do the "pay what you think its worth" with crafting the looted schematics only, otherwise my slicing fee is a flat rate (slightly less for Imperials)
When I tell people pay what you think its worth, I do it based on a judgement on their character. If some punk comes up to me or sends me a tell "heym@k3 t3h ub37 ch355 tabl3 for me!!1!" I will not tell him to pay what he thinks its worth, despite the fact that he probably has 50 mil in the bank and he probably is fun to hunt or PvP with. Its a flat rate based on my time.
Ive had much sucess this way. The people that honestly know they need to track a smuggler down (a rarity on my server at times) and need to respectfully buy some of their time, tend to pay handsomely.

I do the the "pay what you think is cool" thing. Im really nice to my customers and they've never run off without paying. Usually they pay quite well (unless theyre new to the game). I sliced a powerhammer for a guy and got a really good slice. 50k for 1 slice. Then sliced 1 item with a good slicefor another guy, 50k for that too. 100k for 2 slices. then sliced 4 VKs for a guy, 1 speed slice, all others over 30% damage, 1 was34% damage! They were great slices and i got 100k for those too. If i payed 10k for every slice I would have 60k there. But instead I have 200k. I dont always get really good slices like those. Even when i get crap slices, they still pay me a fair amount, and I get by with whatever they pay me. Im no where close to broke, and i get the same people comming back all the time because they know they can get slices without paying too much.
Pretty soon i may try doing 10k, 15k, or 20k a slice. But im happing doing it this way.
Those of you paying 10-20k for slices, thats cool, thats your way. But this is mine.
Happy slicing!

Wll, I do this on Gorath and it may simply be due to the reputation i have achieved, but i usually get noless than what i use to charge (5k) per slice. In fact iI tend to get quite a bit more, like the time I got 500k for 6 vk's.
