Thread: Autopulling from crates disabled? Why?

OK, just logged on SWG after pub 10. Directly after log on getting 3-4 slice request (as usual).
And I start trading with one guy, he wants some armor sliced.

Starts slicing, message pops up: "You need a Armor Upgrade Kit to perform that action", I check
so i have AUKs in my inventory (Yes, about 100) and tries again. Same answer, tries to pull one
AUK out of a crate. Tries slicing and YES it works! Ok, choose "Use molecular clamp". A new
message pops up: "You need to have a Molecular Clamp to perform that action"...*sigh*

---

Why has autopulling from crates been disabled? Slicing is going to take 5-10 times longer since
this change in pub 10.

I honestly can't see what good changes this would make.

Well AUK, WUK, Clamps all pull from the crates. They just need to be in main inventory

Just make sure the crate is in your main inventory and not in a container such as a pack or satchel

All crates are in my main inventory, and it won't autopull from AUK/WUK crates OR Clamp crates. Nice.

Ah well, I've been needing an excuse to dump this busted prof anyway.

If you can't simply double-click on a crate in your inventory to get the tool out, you might not want to switch professions.

Levelling up in something else is going to require a whole lot more work (and clicking) than that.

But keep bytching if it makes you feel better - the way things have been going the Devs will heed your complaints and solve the problem by making it so that these items aren't crateable at all (like Architect's OMUs for whatever reason).

I've never been a cheerleader for the Devs, and even I think they have better things to do (and more important concerns for this profession) than to drop everything on behalf of people too lazy to double-click on a crate. Seriously, if you're in that much of a rush, how many slices have you screwed up in the process?

What's next, lobbying to have the clamp cutr the proper wire for you, because reading the result takes too much time?

I think what his point is..this issue wasn't some game breaking problem. If this was a bug well be damned it was a good one. Since I find myself slicing 5 or more armor sets at a time and 20+ weapons at a time this is a hassle. There are many smugglars like myself that do mass slicing. I see no bonus to the game as a whole by this change nothing at all. Surely there was some other issue in the game that could have been addressed at this time instead of this. Something that is a damaging bug or exploit perhaps????? hummmm

Vendor taken down because you have to invest skill points to run a business. Which I am out of. Sorry folks. I will still slice for you! Just let me know I'll help you out.

Lazy you say....well if i only had 300 slots in my inventory i would´nt complain, but doing massive armor slicing, you often find you inv near to maxed out....and that means:

Pull AUK from crate...pull clamp from crate...pull knives from...slice...Pull AUK from crate...pull clamp from crate...slice...Pull AUK from crate...pull clamp from crate...slice...Pull AUK from crate...pull clamp from crate...slice...Pull AUK from crate...pull clamp from crate...slice...Pull AUK from crate...pull clamp from crate...slice..Pull AUK from crate...pull clamp from crate...slice

..../blow own head off...

Lazy you say.....might wanna change that to one step away from insanity

Not only smugglers. I have harvesters on different planets and use interplanetary survey droids to check on resources. I got message that I needed XXX tool when I had a crate of them in my inventory. Remove tool from crate and the droid worked.

I for one am completely irritated by this. Mass slicing is an uber pain, overfull inventory to "sandbag" items from crates is a problem, blah blah blah...

In all honesty this isn't the hugest big deal and is only a crazy inconvenience....but it is insult to injury, you know? Smugglers need love.

Absolute mickey take by devs, who qwuite frankly do not give a rats ass about us, or any players who isnt a jedi. cos they know that if you want to be a jedi, you will be in the game for ages, cos it will have taken you ages to get to the point.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."
