To be honest I don't think Plan B was really GreenMarines idea. In his blog he states his reason for leaving SOE was he didn't feel he felt like he fit the SOE environment anymore and feels he'll fit better with a smaller company.
This suggests he wasn't given much opportunity to express the creativitythat we know he has with SOE. Perhaps the slicing system was taking longer than Management wanted, ascool ideasoften do,and they were looking for a faster solution to fit a deadline. Only GM and SOE really know what happened and the NDA's mean the community won't know for some time, if ever.
Maybe GM will Blog it if the NDA expires.
/salute GM

yes i realize that "Plan B" most likely wasn't GM's idea. but he still implimented it, and he still came here to tell us about it. "just doing his job" doesn't cut it anymore.

it was very recently for me. i've only been playing for one year now, so i remained optimistic through the CU and other waves of despair.
if you watch closely, you can see the exact moment my heart broke.
it was the moment that the new slicing system was put onto Test Center...
*wavy lines and harp music*
there was lots of commotion that day. the forum was buzzing with excitement as "the first half of our revamp" was upon us. but something was not right...
no mini-game?... well veela told us that it would be... different... right?
the same old pop-up text boxes? well at least there's no red wire blue wi... hey is that GreenMarine?
us: hey GreenMarine! what's up?
GM: oh not much guys. just wanted to pop in and talk about this new slicing system... you see, people aren't happy with their weapons going kaput after just a few uses. but fear not! i can adjust that so they don't go kaput for much longer.
us: oh... ok. so you're gon..
GM: whoooa! slowdown sammy... i didn't say i would do that. just saying i could. what i will be doing is going to "Plan B"...
*a small shattering sound is heard as Kohs' heart breaks, along with the hearts of so many others*
GM: what was that?... oh nevermind. so anyway, "Plan B" is gonna be great! basically what it is, is you go and loot these special components from big baddies like Krayts and the new and improved Death Watch NPCs! then you use these components to preform slices.
us: ...what?
GM: great! see you guys later! *whistles a happy lil' tune and walks back off to Dev-land*
and that, my friends, is the moment of my turning.
you do realise that everything they post has to be cleared by LA/SOE? IMO much of the poor communication by some of the Devs is more a result of only being able to post a small fraction of what they want.

yes
i was just dramatizing the incident for comedic purposes.
and i realize that GreenMarine was a smart fella, and probably would've given us a kick ass revamp like he promised, had he the freedom he should've had.

I'm just sick of people crapping on the one dev who really tried to help us. LIke any other dev is going to want to help us if we keep that up.....
My moral climax was when the pathway to Jedi was lit up like a christmas tree via holocrons. The entire game changed drastically in just one day. Hell, even I got swept up in it. For the longest time before that I was wondering if I would just stumble into whatever the Jedi pathway was.
But that's not the whole story: I've run out of content several times in my SWG tenure. I tried three other MMOGs while I was playing SWG.. AC2, EQ2, and WoW. AC2 lasted me about a month before I came running back to SWG. EQ2 kept me for about a week until the wonderful SOE style of play and programming just beat me down to a bloody pulp, and sent my bloody arse back to SWG. WoW though, swept me for several months before I came back, out of idle curiosity and with huge enthusiasm for the CU and smuggler revamps.
So in synopsis, after today,it looks like I'll be very sorrowfully cancelling SWG and heading back to WoW.
Nobody's crapping on anybody here. Whyare peopleplaying God andscrutinizing the ranting posts of our disgruntled smugglers?
- We have never seen any evidence that would indicate that our forum chatting has made ANY impact on the timing or quality of any releases. If they did, the CU would never have come out in the fashion that it did.
- We have a right to be upset! I don't need to clarify any further.

yes you have the right to be upset and I also have the right to tell you if you are acting like what you see at the primate house

After all? The communication is bugging me for years. The community is giving input and feedback for years and nothing comes back. And then, all of a sudden you have Tiggs posting a stupid response and the sh!t hits the fan. They shouldgive TH the Boss-Poster chair..

AynenAmolen and Dession: That is correct. For the next few publishes, we will be doing smaller publishes that focus on bugs and issues.
this sounds so much better and less flameworthy as Tiggs response....
- Smugglers still can't smuggle.
Since release. Since PRE-release. Since...
Mission terminals, space quests, slicing mini-game, bounty hunters.. the pieces are all out there, just put them together for us! Give me a reason to use my YT-1300 and give me a chance to be interdicted and fight or evade detection with a secret compartment.. And the new loot system is horrible. I was optimistic at first, but the fact that the components don't stack, the rarity of the high end items (ICB, Mandalorian Intraframes, etc.) is insulting.
We are currently focusing on fixing what is currently broke. New features will be move out to a longer term implementation.
....
longer term implementation... *shakes head*
it ended with the Autopull bug......
