Thread: Smuggler's Dawn = Naritus has player smuggler missions you can have them too !
Player generated smuggler missions:
Last weekend Naritus hosted its first Smuggler event (see player event list, Smuggler's Dawn). http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Naritus&message.id=114457
I am not sure if this was the first event of this kind on all servers (let me know) ... but its a good way to bridge the gap between now and the Smuggler revamp. This event was planned as a "warm-up" to the smuggler revamp and we did not know yet that the revamp would be delayed.
1) You need smugglers (only real smugglers with a novice smuggler title or higher accepted)
2 ) You need several fences across the planets (a fence is someone with a vendor that forwards all sale and buy vendor mails to you)
3) You need hunters (in game ad screaming recruitment, registering in the forum or from a player organization .. Naritus has a 400 member Bounty Hunter Guild (BHG) http://www.swghuntersguild.com/with a centralized mail system so we have an instant group of experienced hunters to notify).
4) You need a sponsor (again, no problem as the example of the BHG shows ... this event was financed by me with 1 mill total ... but smugglers do not do it for money, they like the adrenaline rush of evading a hunter. Mission reward was either 50 k or 100 k).
5) You need someone that crafts the smuggling goods (CDEF weapons named Weapon shipments, various single spice containers named Spice shipment, various other stuff named Stolen Data shipment, exotic animals, heavy weapons, exotic artifacts etc.) and distributes them to the fence vendors. Preferably the weapons are sliced, so in addition to the hunters the smuggler risks scans from stormtrooper patrols too.
The smuggler gets his package from the fence. (S)he has one week to drop off 3 parts from the package to 3 other fences (=vendors) on different planets. Last part MUST be kept until the last day, the other two parts can be dropped anytime during the week, but no more than one per day. Attention: Some smugglers dropped ALL parts on the first day by accident (no reading the rules of the event :-)
If approached by a hunter a smuggler can a) give up the package and avoid a fight (hunter gets the 100 k fee if the package is handed to the authorities = another vendor) OR b) fight. If smuggler wins, (s)he gets away. If hunter wins, he DBs and makes a screenshot. Sends in screenshot to organizer to claim reward. Fighting and screenshot basically follows the BHG procedure.
To spice things up, every smuggler "intercepts" the instructions for another smuggler. (S)he COULD sell this information to hunters, intercept the other smuggler and get BOTH packages, make a deal with a fence so the fence bans a smuggler from his shop so he cannot drop his package etc. All kinds of social interaction possible - nasty or cooperative.
To raise the tension, unsuccessful smugglers (if the player agrees) have a bounty placed on their head for failing the crime lords (within the framework of the BHG system) and are hunted by the Bounty Hunters ... and there are several highly skilled professionals among that number on Naritus ! More spin off roleplaying stories develop from those events too (see Naritus forum).
This is the answer to smuggler content folks, not whining, cancelling, and then letting everyone know about it in a long drawn out post bemoaninghow the devs don't love us.
BTW, awesome event, Nova ![]()

Thanks.
Next event will be more story driven. Does anyone remember the R-Series Droid that blew his motivator so R2D2 got chosen by the Lars family ?
And what this droid has seen when "Tusken Raiders" attacked that Sandcrawler amd massacred the Jawas ? Well .. maybe the Empire does not want sensor readings of that event to be made common knowledge.
And .. BTW .. that droid has become a Rebel hero over time in SW canon :-)
And YOU can take a role in that soon story soon.
Have fun
