Thread: Slicing?
I need to know everything about it cause i ahve no clue, like where do u get hte "fans" or "clamps" or whatever they are acalled and how do u use them?...plz explain
The idea of "slicing" sounds cryptic and even dauntic at first, I know it did to me. It's one of those things that when you do it the first time, you'll say "I get it now!"
FANs and Clamps are made by higher level smuggler slicers, and when added to the "slice", give roughly a 75-80% and 100% chance of success respectively (in theory of course, there are some mathematicians in these forums that love to debate numbers, but you get the idea.)
If you are wanting FANs or clamps, and you want to ask another smuggler for some, be warned that there is a mixed camp on the issue. Some smugglers feel you should work your way to it and earn them so you make them yourself, as they did, and others will be more than happy to make them for you for a price (we are smugglers, after all)
Both sides have valid arguments, and not the issueat hand with your question anyway, so I will digress.
When you attempt to "slice" something, be it a container, a terminal, weapon, or armor, a pop up window appears and asks what you'd like to do. Cut red/blue, install a FAN or Clamp, etc. The first time you do it, you'll see exactly what we mean, and it's all self-explanatory when you get the options.
The POINT of slicing, is to open sealed containers, slice mission terminals for better reward payouts, add speed or damage to weapons, and increase armor effectiveness (lowering HAM costs, for example.)
Hope this helps, and good luck! I'm sure others wiill have more to add as well.
First find a locked container, which usually implies yelling for other players to bring you one. Once you have one in your inventory, bring up the radial menu and choose Slice. A dialogue box comes about and you begin playing the smuggler mini game. It asks you to make the age old choise of the blue wire or red wire. At this point, unless you have clamps or fans, just choose whichever feels better, you have a 50/50 chance of being right. If you choose wrong, it will say you "damage the locking mechanism, blah blah blah", basically you failed it's unopenable. If you suceed you will have to cut the other wire to open the container.
