Thread: Man...yet another nail in our coffin...or is it?
Hmmmmm... this sounds intresting. It allows us to get a lil more immersed into the game as a Smuggler. Now if ya have to deliver some form of "goods" for the Rebellion, that requires you to land at the Imperial Outpost on Dantooine. Flying a Imperial ship makes it that much cooler. Maybe even if ya do it that way it can allow ya certain perks to finishing the job earlier.
Example - Pick up a Smuggling mission (well, if we get them) in Moeina for the Rebellion. It states that a Rebel strike team is in need of supplies. the catch is that their current location is 2k meters outside the Imperial Outpost on Dantooine, and they need the supplies ASAP. Everyone knows you make a name for yourself as a Smuggler for being the fastest. Remeber this line?
"Its the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs."
Lets say that this mission being for the Rebellion, somehow does not allow you to 'fly" into the Imperial Outpost because you get a tef for running that mission. Well you could but that would be almost suicide cosidering all the Imp npc's there, AT-ST's, as well as other covert players. Being allowed to fly a Imperial factioned ship into the Outpost would not only hide the tef, but would allow you to complete that Smuggling mission in the aloted timeframe.
Fater time = Bigger payout. And we all love credits....
Its a cool article all in all. I just hope our ability to "not" Smuggle isn't going to be shared arcoss the boards to all non declared players.
...an I being greedy?

heh not tae be a nasty ass-clown but..... what self respecting smuggler would smuggle goods in a military vehicle?
Like I said in the example.... Flying one would allow you to land at the Imperial Outpost (withoput being attacked).... If ya know anything about Dantooine, the next closest starport in the Mining Outpost- Argo. Thats pretty far away, and a long speeder trip.
Time = Credits. The ability to fly into the Imperial Outpost (2k meters from the delivery point) Well, lets just say I'll be collecting the credits while your still looking for fuel for your speeder

I think everyone is missing the point here. ![]()
With the decision for the neutral pilot to be able to fly both factions ships. We as Smugglers can use them to our advantage.
(a lil bit immersion, a lil bit role play)
As a Smuggler WE get to do the Smuggler missions.
The reason behind my idea of using the tef system is NOT to side with either faction... But unless your going to do Smuggler mission for the Hutts or any other party besides the Rebellion or the Empire. This would not apply to you.
Sure you can play (role play or whatever) a Rebel Smuggler, and just choose NOT to run Smuggler missions that involve the Empire. But some people may want to.
Han and Chewie are a prime example of 2 Smugglers that hated flying that "bucket of bolts" Imperial shuttle. But, they did it on a Smuggling mission for the Rebellion.
WHY?
Because if they chose to fly Hans ship, or any other rebel craft to smuggler that strike team to Endor, well they'd be smoked. So, in steps in the Imperial shuttle.
Now back to the EXAMPLE mission :
Pick up a Smuggling mission (well, if we get them) in Moeina for the Rebellion. It states that a Rebel strike team is in need of supplies. Now that this is a Smuggling missionsfor the Rebellion, this causes an issue to 'fly" into the Imperial Outpost because you get a tef for running that mission.
- Imperial Smuggling mission = Rebel tef.
- Rebel Smuggling mission = Imperial tef
- Neutral Smuggler mission = Random NPC tef
2. Allows immersion into the game, as well as the ability to role play.
Thats all my point was...... just an idea

-So If I take this correctly, We (Smugglers) are now getting grouped with all the rest of the non-GCW active players.
Additionally, as one would expect, Rebels cannot fly Imperial spacecraft nor can Imperials fly Rebel spacecraft (I guess Han and Chewie were non-aligned smugglers after all). Both can fly non-aligned craft if they posses the appropriate non-aligned pilot skills, however those craft will most likely have different performance attributes than the factionally-aligned craft.

My very first post. Nice to meet you all.![]()
Thought this might be of interest for Smugglers. This is from a post Thunderheart made today.
Wouldn't it be cool if the smuggler bonus was being the only class allowed to pilot any
vessel? I mean we are the low-down-dirty-scum of theuniverse beings. We do what we want when we want. We convince everyone we are their friend (underworld4) , we can help both sides with their cause (underworld3) we can trick people into thinking we are dead (feign death). Why would we not be able to 'borrow' a x-wing or tie fighter from time to time ?
admittedly i overlooked a few things so ![]()
all have a point.....
ill be quiet, im all a lil confused ><

Ok...I think there might be some reading comprehension issues here, and I pray that they're not mine. Here's the quote again [my emphasis]

Both can fly non-aligned craft if they posses the appropriate non-aligned pilot skills, however those craft will most likely have different performance attributes than the factionally-aligned craft.
Now again, I may be misreading this...but I take this to mean that Rebels have their tree, Imperials have their tree, and Neutrals have theirs. Fine so far. The difference is, that Rebels and Imperials can fly Neutral's ships as long as they also take the skills in the Neutrals' tree. *Not* that Neutrals can fly any ships that they want to.
*Only* Rebels can fly Rebel ships and *only* Imperials can fly Imperial ships. With the automatic TEF system, this only makes sense. How would a Neutral be TEF'd in a TIE?
Now, I agree it would be interesting to allow smugglers to pilot any and all, but I really don't see that happening...sadly.
The Kessel Run is a contest of speed and endurance for smugglers. Those who undertake it must deliver specified cargos (usually illicit in nature) to a series of divergently moving transport vessels. The smuggler must deliver the cargo before the transports wander out of the free trade lanes into restricted Imperial space.
Solo's record is impressive, since the transport vessels covered less than 12 parsecs of distance during his hurried run between them, a testament to his piloting and the speed of the Millennium Falcon.
There is more than one way to smuggle spice out of Kessel. According to one tale, Solo left out the middleman and ferried the stolen goods himself, skirting dangerously close to the Maw Cluster, a baffling congregation of black holes. In doing so, he shortened the distance for the run, achieving an impressive record of under 12 parsecs.
