Before I get started, Let me be the first to say that I've always been the kind of guy who told people "Don't waste our time by posting foolish messages like : Ive cancelled my account . Goodbye everyone. But something's happened the last couple weeks and I felt that the following words needed to be posted. Please forgive me in advance for being so hypocritical.

Last January, I took a break from SWG and cancelled my account. I was never the type to complain about lack of content or broken professions. I had always taken the game for what it was, and enjoyed it thoroughly. But, after 6 months of this "fun" I got bored and cut the string.

Enter -May: I renewed my subscription and came back to SWG and found it to be just as fun when I first started. However, after painting my swoop bike, and visiting the Geo caves, the Corvette, and the deathwatch bunker, everything started to get boring very quickly. As a regular poster here in the smuggler forums, I began to look at our profession for help with this matter.

Enter - The Smuggler revamp. Like so many of you, thoughts of the smuggler revamp have kept me going the last couple weeks. But as we've discussed various issues further and further, I began asking myself when is this going to happen? December? January?

The next logical question is........

Am I willing to wait that long?

Sorry SOE, but I am not willing to wait that long.

SWG was a great idea, and as is typical in MMORPG's it's always easy for people to sit back and focus on what's missing, but the fact in SWG is that the product managers were utterly ineffective in attempting to predict the impact of the original jedi system, and thus had to spend far too much resources and time trying to fix it. This impacted all players, including those of us who are smugglers. Instead of satisfying the players' desire for fun in overall gameplay and professions, they saistfied the instant gratification of the little anakin-wannabees of the world. The worst part for smugglers : Most of us real, true, honest to god smugglers, never wanted to be jedi. We grew up wanting to be like Han Solo...Blaster in one hand, princess in the other. We were the least of SOE's problems regarding jedi, and we've basically been ignored for it.

So now SOE is almost finished with the complete jedi revamp, and guess what, it's gonna take even longer to be a jedi now. So SOE, my question to you is, when everyone who gives up trying to be a jedi just decides to be Han Solo, what do you have to offer them? Unsellable spices? Broken Specials? Lack of info on slicing? Language comprehension?

Thats right SOE, you're offering all of those things. And since we're on the subject of language comprehension, this post finishes in the only language I think you will understand.

Today I have cancelled my account, and I will never come back. I will be looking for another MMORPG to get involved with, but I will always have second thoughts about giving my hard-earned money to anything SOE produces. JTL will not bring me back, and my experience in SWG will most likely prevent me from seriously considering EQ2.

To my smuggler bretheren: Collectively you are one of the most intelligent, productive groups I've ever seen in almost any online game. Kudos to all of you for being so cool.

Special mention. :

Caylin, of course. You've done a fantastic job. You have literally taken all of former correspondant, SunTzu's inefficencies, and turned them into correspondants strengths. You're an excellent communicator and I commend you.

Dreven : A veteran on the boards who knows everything there is to know about smuggler. One of the most valuable resources in our section of the galaxy.

Max Steel and WayneinAustin : Cya guys, two more board veterans. Good luck guys.

Snaproll : A master smuggler who I befriended in-game. One of the ONLY people who truly understood spices.(See the Snaproll Spiceguide)

HunterRose: A smuggler, long-gone, who helped me out in a big way when I got started.

To anyone I may have missed, goodbye, good luck, and God bless.

And a last word.....

Sony, get you act together before you start seeing more and more people like me who are tired, bored, and disenfranchised with your lack of ability to effectively solve many of the common problems in the MMORPG market today. I don't know if it's because of bad upper management, poor product management, or budget and timeconstraints, but nevertheless, any and all of those things should be transparent to the end-user if you ever expect to maintain an acceptablelevel of customer satisfcation.

Great post! Kinda sad, SOE has spent so much time working on a profession that atm should not really exist. If they had waited a few years (2 or 3)and used Jedi as an expansion and focused all its energy on the combat Rebalance, the GSWand makeing all other professions the best they could be, Jedi could have fit in as a re-birth type of thing after we had JTL and a planet expansions. They pulled the game in the wrong direction and now they are scramblingto fix it.

/Salute Intelerebel. You will be missed.
Know that I too have gone through periods like you describe. It is always my friends that pull
me back. Last night I hunted with two good friends in the Geo dungeon... had one of my worst
outings and died 3 times in a couple of hours, but had a blast none-the-less because my friends
were there.
I hope you find the MMORPG you seek. Send me an Email at [email protected] if you do! Or if
you just want to know how things are going here in the Galaxy. Take care!

Great post! Almost verbatim to my story except I quit last november. Now that I'm back I already am getting bored and disheartened with the direction this game is taking. The only reason I haven't cxld the account yet is because my wife really enjoys SWG still. She's still xping and has that same awe we all had the first 6 weeks of playing.

But don't be too sad for leaving. There will be bigger and better mmorpg's. I imagine even another Star Wars one after this one closes next year.

By the way, thanks to everyone for your wonderful replies.

Although I leave SWG with no regrets, I will miss the debates and friendly exchanges we've all shared.

I couldn't agree more. They killed a game with so much potential, its truly just sad. But hey, City of Heroes aint bad, and with WoW on the way, you shouldnt be lonely long

I too am waiting for WoW to come out. I originally bought this game as a hold-over, because I'd been dying to play a MMORPG, but wanted WoW to be the first. But the delays with that game and seeing SWG for so cheap at Best Buy broke me and I bought this. I'm probably going to jump ship before or when WoW comes out, because Blizzard at least turns out quality software that is normally worth the delays. SOE could take serious lessons from them.

Good luck in your future MMORPG endeavors!

I too cancelled around the same time you did, and came back in June. For me, the game has taken on new life as I'm now exploring the side of Master Weaponsmith.

I had never reached Colonel, so that is another thing I am striving for to make my Smuggler as complete as I can. I'm in a pretty active Imperial guild on Kettemoor, and they have needs for Master Smugglers in the current state of the GCW.

Hope to see you back again!

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04
