But I just want a button, which I can push, that makes "You Win" show up on my screen and confetti drop from the ceiling.

It's possibleLeia may have felt her mothersemotions thru the force. It could be the reason she only remembers sadness.

Do people still think Padme is going to die in this movie? If she does, it ruins Leia for ROTJ, unless her death takes place after the main events of Episode III. Luke asks if Leia remembers her real mother. SHE SAYS YES; she died when she was very young, if I remember the dialog. For you to remember your mother, you'd probably have to be 3 or 4 years old... 2 years old would be the minimal age I'd stretch the possibility to. And that's if you ignore the fact that Leia said she remembers her mother being sad. Hence, she can't remember her mother if she dies too shortly after her birth: i.e. in this movie.

Leia: Luke, what's wrong?
Luke: Leia, do you remember your mother? Your real mother?
Leia: Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.
Luke: What do you remember?
Leia: Just... images really. Feelings.
Luke: Tell me.
Leia: She was... very beautiful. Kind, but sad. Why are you asking me this?
Luke: I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her.

There is a way to reconcile Padme's possible death shortly after childbirth with this dialogue. Leia says that she remembers images and feelings. Anakin Skywalker was probably the most potentially powerful Jedi in history. He would pass that affinity for the Force on to his children. The bond between mother and child in the womb is very strong. They are too bodies, but the baby shares much of the mother's functions. They are also sensitive to emotions. This is why many people play soothing music on headphones and place them against the mother's belly. Now, imagine that sensitivity amplified by the Force. Leia, most likely being the more "emotional" of the two, would have a strong connection to her mother. Luke seemed to have more of a connection to his father.

So, baby Leia might have received images and feelings through the Force of what was going on, and these would be her memories of her mother. Padme is indeed very sad in the trailer. But Padme's dying right after childbirth is quite possible, even when comparing to Return of the Jedi.

Now, whether that's what Lucas meant when he wrote it in the first place is a completely different story.

Ok, just to answer this, and I REALLY hope GL doesn't mess even MORE with the EU that HE authorized, but still. Padme doesn't die. And as far as anyone knows, is still alive WELL into the future. Luke goes looking for her several times and finds at some places that he just missed her by months or even weeks. GL of course does have the ability and "right" to change this if he likes, but if he keeps ANY continuity with the EU, Padme only gives the twins up because she has too. Luke goes to Tat and I think she tries to hide on Alderaan for as long as possible but eventually has to flee.

Thats how the EU has it anyway.

P.S. Natalie Portman is a 11/10 Hottie and hopefully isn't all pregnant and such for the whole movie

Do people still think Padme is going to die in this movie? If she does, it ruins Leia for ROTJ, unless her death takes place after the main events of Episode III. Luke asks if Leia remembers her real mother. SHE SAYS YES; she died when she was very young, if I remember the dialog. For you to remember your mother, you'd probablyhave to be 3 or 4 years old... 2 years old would be the minimal age I'd stretch the possibility to. And that's if you ignore the fact that Leia said sheremembers her mother beingsad.Hence, she can't remember her mother if she dies too shortly after her birth: i.e. in this movie.

And I'm not even thinking of this in a nerdy Star Wars way; I imagine this would apply to real life in every aspect.

Not to mention there is virtually nothing in either the teaser or fulltrailer that points to her dying. Mace, yes. Jedi in general, yes. Padme? I don't see it. I mean when I saw the Episode I trailer, and saw Obi-Wan going 'Nooooooo' I KNEW that was Qui-Gon getting done in. All you see is maybe 3 different shots with her in it, and one of her has her pregnant and crying. I don't think that means death. Plus, the only real motive for her to die, is that the Emperor already knows she is pregnant with a possible future Jedi that could destroy him; I'm sure that anyone the Emperor would send to kill her would be interested to know whether or not she had given birth; if she had, and the twins were seperated, there's no reason to kill her exept for being mad that she already gave birth and they lost the chance to get rid of the offspring. AND, if that happened, it'd probably be pretty close after her given birth. But again, going back to my original point, even if she dies closely after giving birth, how does Leia remember her?

Sorry for going on... we're all pretty into Star Wars at work, and we keep talking about how the movie is getting closer and closer. Being a projectionist in a theater where you will probably be releasing 6 prints of EIII tends to get you excited, especially when you are seeing a new trailer for the first time. So since the trailer dropped a couple weeks ago, we've sort of been talking about what the trailer reveals. It was exactly the same way when we first got in the EII trailer.
