Smuggler Archive
Thread: I'm sorry, but I hate our EXP requirements now.
The move took a lot of flavor out of the profession, we were a hybrid both by definition and by experience. Now we're a combat profession with benefits, and if you look at overall balance and not 1v1 or combat balance we are now really out of balance (in a good way for once). As I've been saying since I first saw the change it seems wrong that a smuggler gets better at slicing by killing things and its even more wrong to be able to become master SL without ever leading a squad.
With that said though, i've been a master on a few servers now for quite some time and post CU I have no idea what slicing is doing either

I see smugglers who dont know how to slice, doctors who cant heal wounds. Its a crazy mixed up world. As for the xp.. does it matter since we are all master anyway
I went to the Coronet terminals to check what's up today and there was 8-9 MBHs around.

Don't be sorry, nothing to be sorry about here

Though I disagree with you in regards to your thoughts about the CU as a whole; this is one thing that I do agree with. The slicing line is the one line that shouldn't have been tampered with, just like, the Bounty Hunter's Investigation line shouldnt be based on pistol xp.
Lets face it, you can see a trace of it on our forums already, there are alot of newcomers to the Smuggler Profession. While at one time our profession was defined on character moreso than any borked combatskill we may have had, the CU has transformed us into a viable combat class, and with that, well....all I have to say is that there is a majortradeoff to be sure.
Here's what experience I think it should require to level throughout Smuggler.
Underworld: Smuggling experience
Slicing: Slicing experience
Dirty Fighting: COMBAT experience(Since all the mods are now General Ranged and Unarmed, does it not make sence to break the experience down to something than can be gained through all ranged and Unarmed combat? This would reinforce Smuggler as a profession that blends well with most all combat professions.)
Deliquency: Smuggling experience
Edit: CU even bugged the board's FireFox support. Now I gotta use the damned visual editor because nothing comes out right in HTML on Internet Explorer.
