Thread: Help out Thunderheart Poll on Slicing experimentation

One of the things that really seems to help Thunderheart get results is to have real metrics to back up requests. This thread is designed to do that.

Please reply to this thread once if possible to make it easier on me when I tally up the totals. Please refrain from voting if you are not a smuggler (honor system).

A. Remove experimentation entirely from Molecular clamps, Upgrade Kits, and Laser Knives. Everything works like today, totally random slices, experimentation and resources don't make a difference.

B. Make resources and experimentation affect slicing results. Better resources and more experimentation points result in higher probabilities of good slices.

Goal: To give Thunderheart a real number for what the smuggler community feels like about this.

My vote:

One way to implement this could be to make slice % look like

SB + TP * RANDOM

whereSB = slicing base (goes up with slicing and master box progression), TP = tool percentage (weighted sum of tool eff. 1-99%), and RANDOM is whatever random function they use to do current slicing. This way they can up the SB slightly and make experimentation make a difference while still keeping slicing random.

Today the above scenario seems to be modeled with the following numbers for a master slicing a weapon:

SB = 15

TP = 100%

RANDOM = 0-20% (unknown distribution)

This gives us chances of a slice 15% - 35%

Tomorrow one can imagine raising the SB such that the guy with 99% tools across the board can do better than the guy with 50% tools.

We apparently are not a comabt class, but we are not a crafting class either (prerequisites)

At the very least you should include spice experimenting with the slicing experimentation, because at least we need spice crafting experience.

To allow experimentation on slicing tools but not on spice doesn't make any sense. That being said I am opposed to spice experimentation as well.

but no matter the results of this poll, only 5% of the smuggler population will most likely even participate in it.
