Thread: Any Word on When the Smuggler Revamp is actually coming?

Hey guys I have not stuck my head into the forums in quite a while. (They pretty much give me headaches)

I see threads on idea's and such, which is good.

But, I can't find any "official" mention of when/if it's ever coming.

You know, the Revamp that GreenMarine was if I remember correctly, "diligently working on" from September 2003. You know, a year and 2 months ago.

Is there even a 1/2 way official list of what the revamp will be?

There, Wes. Fixed your typo...

We don't know that, which is why I said 'can'. On a random note, Iwatched The Shawshank Redemption for the first time last night, my belief in hope has been reaffirmed

Oh, I am aware that things are not set in stone. I also understand why you phrased it like you did. However, if all we have to go on is prior experience, then I am afraid that, with past performance, things WILL change. They ALWAYS do. Every single time we've been on tap, we've gotten pushed back. So, I am trending towards that belief. If things DON'T change, then I will be happy and excited and cynical no more. Unfortunately there is a 14 month period of time for me that has taught me to look at anything I'm told about a revamp with a general air of skeptcism.

Its nothing personal, Wes - I think you're doing a fine job for a guy who's just been thrown into this, and I appreciate the position you are in and the need to maintain a positive outlook. I'm just not willing to give the devs and suits at SOE the benefit of the doubt anymore, because they've done abso-freakin-lutely nothing to deserve that.

I think I need to start the '4 Horsemen of the Acynicalypse'.

Concrete steps:

1. Combat Upgrade, JtL Polish and Loot Revamp.

2. Profession revamps

As far as concrete deadlines go, there will be no more discussion of this sort from the dev team. Quality comes first. There will be no more discussion of "things in the future". We will be discussing, "what is going on now" and "what is going on next" and that's it. We've tightened the limits on what we will discuss to help keep community/development discussions more focused and on topic.

That's pretty much what we've got to go on. The Smuggler revamp is part of no. 2, but there's no idea when or in what order the profession revamps will be done in. Caylin was told prior to him stepping down that we were top of the list; but as we all know from experience, thingswill change.

Somehow there is a mistaken impression that the Smuggler Revamp is contain in no.2. Based on what TH has said, that they will only discuss what is currentlly on the tablw, the natural conclusion is that this revamp pertians to the Combat Upgrade changes. Which means mods to existing things; like weapons, armor, food, buffs, spice, clothes, etc. What we what, in terms of the NEW wording, is a Smuggler Upgrade.

The COMBAT part of smuggling would be covered in the CU. Not spices or smuggling or underworld or any of that stuff.

Spices will need to be Combat Upgrade balanced. Slicing will need to be Combat Upgrade balanced. Underworld will be GCW balanced. Other Smuggling will be part of JTL polish and Loot Revamp.

Besides, why wait till after the JTL release to ALL of a SUDDEN change how they do thing? After all the Smuggler Revamp has been talked about for over a year. We where told that after the Combat Revamp that the Smuggler Revamp was next and now all of the profession revamps are taking place? This will be one revamp to bringALL of the professions in line with the Combat Upgrade.

So it looks like April or May of 2005 before they even mention the Smuggler Revamp (assuming we're first). Personally I'd like to see them do it this order: Combat Upgrade, GCW Revamp, Smuggler and other Profession Revamps. If they can fix the combat system and add some real content to the GCW I think they can keep people from leaving while they fix the other stuff. The Loot Revamp sounds and looks nice but frankly can wait and JLT has just been released and now they want to do some more work on it when there are professions that have been broken from day one is ludicrous. I mean how much longer do we have to wait on stuff that should have been fixed during the past year if the Devs weren’t so busy with JTL and the whole mess the Jedi caused.

Because they're only focusing on how things affect combat, not the profession itself.

Correct, after the profession revamp is the GCW revamp. There will be no need for a specific Smuggler revamp after that and that is why nothing is being said about it anymore. All changes that will take place, in the future, will be based on how it affects all of the professions and will be geared toward the major expansions.

It seems that alot of our issues may be addressed in Combat Upgrades etc.. I just hope that they don't take those changes to be 'good enough' and then forget to let us smuggle when they do the professionn revamps.
