Ever find it to be a pain to calculate how much faction you need to buy so you'll have enough to sell to a customer? Ever wonder how much money you will make? I know when i first started selling faction i had a TERRIBLE time trying to figure that all out. Well... for all of you people having trouble, look no further.

Here it is, folks. I've been working for a while on this spreadsheet for the smuggler community (and myself ). It's a very simple spreadsheet. You only need to insert two, yes TWO, numbers! Amount of faction requested by your client, and your charging price. The spreadsheet will tell you how much faction you need to buy, how many 100k/20k equitable trades you should make, and your net profit.

It IS based on the assumption that the smuggler selling faction is ranked at Colonel and requires Microsoft Excel to open.

If someone finds any flaws or has any suggestions feel free to PM me.

If it prompts you for a username and password you should be able to click cancel and have it open. This is only a temporary link until i have someone host it on a different server for me.

It looks like it also assumes that you do not have the Inspiration buff and that you're Imperial. Rebels get a further faction point bonus.

Evarn Terallis - Master Smuggler on Kettemoor

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

Inspiration buff, no. I did all calculations without an inspiration buff. 80 cpu from recruiters is what i found it cost. 100k for 1250FP. 20k for 250FP. It costs me 117.7 faction points to transfer 100 faction points to another player while i am ranked colonel.

Imperial yes. I AM imperial. however there is a slot where you can insert the cost per unit that you buy from the recruiter. As an imp, my exchange rate is 80 CPU. I'm not sure if its different for rebels but if it cost you say... 50 cpu for rebels you could easily insert that and it would be factored into the equation.

Also it doesn't look like the function for "actual price" uses the variable you put in for FP cost. It should look like this:

=((H18*1250)+(H20*250))*H11

Very nice, thanks!
Two things:
1) Have you considered formatting the fields to have comma separators for numbers? (ie, 1,000,000 is a lot easier to read than 1000000, I think).
2) Not sure if this is possible or not, but it would be nice if you could enter a number in the "Charge Price" field and have the "Credits Charged Per Unit" field update. Or all the rest of the fields, for that matter. Basically, I often get people saying stuff like "Hey, I'll give you X creds for Y faction" and I have to bust out the calculator and figure out how much that is per point before agreeing or not.
Very nice though, good job!

i didnt think about that. i'll check and see if i can format the cells to do that.

as for the second item... that would require a second calculator. its possible though.
