Thread: Smugglers should get force cloak

Or rather a less powerfull version of the power.Lets call it sneak.It should only be usablePVEagainst inteligent creatures I.E. stormtroopers,Swoop gangs,Rebel commandoes etc etc...I'm sure you can figure the uses for such a skill. I would also make it a Master only skill or make it very easy to break at anything less than master..so what do ya think?

Hehe... but think of all the fun you could have!!! Run into a shadowy area in a cantina and appear invisible and speak dirty words to the dancers n they wouldnt figure out where you are.....

I think smuggler should be placed on the "BH terminals"
And get smuggler a new skill: 'Disguise', the smuggler can make him self into a "npc looking" char. This skills require stff from a ID, say a forgey/disguise kit. And only last for 10min. Should be fun
When smuggler get Teffed by BHs they can choose to run, if the smuggler dont get killed within say 15min the Smuggler is cleard from the "BHTerms" and the BH dont get eny cash and mission incomplete.
Smuggler who lives should get higher paind due their skill avoiding BHs and other officials. "Higherpaid" they can run "smuggler" missions between worlds, npc style from point A to B. But they are walys in risk if beeing reported always.

i think a sneak type skill would be suited to us smugglers. Especailly if your PvE enabled and land in an enemy controled starport.

Yes, something resembling this ability would make sense for a smuggler. Of course, if it were implemented in a totally retarded way like a magical invisibility field, that would still be... retarded.
If Smugglers really COULD go disguise themselves from BHs that are hunting them (which actually sounds like an enhancement to that image designer skill that got added recently), it wouldn't be enough to just LOOK like an NPC... we'd have to conn like an NPC and not show up on the radar. It could even go in stages. Want to conn like an NPC? You need these 'fake papers'... they're good for 20 minutes. Want to change your name? Here's a 'fake ID', that's good for ten minutes. Want to not show up on radar? We can slice the security mesh to ignore your bio-signature. You have at most 15 minutes before the slicing is isolated and reversed, so make good use of it.
But this means nothing unless there's the threat of being caught... either by NPCs or players. It could be argued that you can have that threat of being caught with the GCW, but there are a lot of people that just DON'T CARE ABOUT THE GCW. But then, SOE/LA doesn't care about those of us that don't care about it, since they said back before the GCW 'revamp' that they were forcing people to pick a side and get involved, anyway.

And by the way, this kind of system would be awesome for the GCW, too... you could have people infiltrating opposing faction cities with their false papers and identities, using facilities in towns where they were citybanned... hell, that kind of 'disguise' skill would give Image Designers and Smugglers BOTH stuff to do and a means to be involved in the almighty GCW.

This disguise idea sounds pretty damn good ... perhaps it should be added to the long list of things that 'would' have made swg great ...along withsmuggling

I have to agree...
I find if difficult to get too interested in "idea" threads. Not because the ideas aren't good or don't have potential. It is simply because it has been made very clear that we will be getting exactly nothing in the form of content. sucks, but that's the way it is -- the red names told us so.

I so want to see something like this implemented. At the least give smuggler something like the first post said, the equivalent of scout/ranger mask scent and camouflage but for NPCs. The other ideas are great but if we could just get that I would be a little bit more happy about being a smuggler.
