Thread: Smuggler's Guide to Selling Faction Points v3.0 by: Dreven
Unless something changed post-CU, my FP caps should still be accurate...
Pre-CU, but after P-13.1, the cap was 20x rank cost...
Anything else that's gone in post-CU (like the inspiration buff thing), you guys will have to fill in...as I'm totally in the dark about anything that's happened post-CU...

(1) What are faction caps now? is there a formula now, or just all over the place?
(2) Entertainer Inspiration Buffs - Need a mention that it is wise for you to have a buff when buying faction and your customer to have one wehn time comes to /del - and some math / formulas for calcualting what you should /del if they do, or what cost is if you do would be nice.
(3) Startegies for selling / meeting - someone in another thread mentioned using Dearic (rebel) as a place to declare SF then jumping in your MP ship to do safe transactions... hmmm
(4) Probably could use a writeup about perk costs and the GCW control system.
Anything else? I'll write up a few of these, but some things I don't have handy - in particular the new FP caps, so anyone know the new ratio for figuring out caps?

- Go combatant at any place convient for you
- Have your customer(s) ready waiting at the starship terminal
- Launch with your customer(s) into space
- Have some fun blowing stuff up while on the way to the Dantooine Space Station
- Assuming you have already done the quest, land at the abandoned Rebel Base (Vortex Pilots most likely have)
- Walk (because walking is much cooler) into the base and go upstairs to the captain near Mon Mothma
- Go SF and delegate, if your customer is not rebel he can't enter the building (I don't know what the range is but a line of sight seems not to be needed).
- Any gank-squads that wil be that desperate to get you flail outside until your combtant/on leave again.
- Give your customer a ride after a successfull deal or let your customer rott if he tried to scam you
Hello, sorry in advance for the questions I'm not smuggler don't know anything about your prof. I've read the FAQ and still have these questions:
As an armorsmith wanting to make faction armor, do I get my local smuggler to smuggle the schematics or the fp so I can buy the schematic?
I have a friend who turned from imp. He's at -5k of faction. does he purchase 5k of reb fp to even out to zero or can he donate/give his imp fp to a smuggler so they can turn it into cash?
Thanks ![]()

Smuggle the shematics? *sigh* Would be great but there is no smuggling. In fact the /delegatefaction (is that the complete one? dunno, always use only /del
) command is NOT a Smuggler command. Another fact is that only Armoursmiths can buy the shematics, preventing non-AS Smugglers from buying them with a discount and making a nice deal. The deal with a Smuggler is only because a Smuggler can bribe/donate money to a recruiter and get some FP fast, and I mean real fast. Need 100.000 FP? No problem, just pay in advance and give me a minute.

From -5.000 Rebel faction to 0 he has to either buy them or earn them via missions. The "Sell Out" option a Smuggler has is gone, A Smuggler can not sell any faction to a recruiter. Besides there would be the problem that you have to be SF to delegate. And since your friend left the empire that might be a tidbit problematic.
Thanks
Ok, sorry for having to ask this, but i been trying to figure out the math of what i need to charge for 1 fp up to a bulk of 1k of fp. im not that good in math ( shouldnt have dropped out in 3rd grade ) and im trying to follow the formula posted on here but i still cant grasp it. im an imperial colonel master smuggler. so if any one can help me i wuld appreciate it alot.
thank you.

Colonels spend 1178 fp to delegate 1000 fp to someone. If you have an inspiration buff from an entertainer, you will get 1375 fp for 100k cr. That's 72.72 cr per fp for you, then you factor in the 1.178 transfer cost = 85.67 credits actual cost to you for each fp the customer receives.
Practically speaking, this means you're taking a loss if you sell for less than 86cr per FP. Personally, I never go anywhere near that low. My normal price is 140cr per FP, that's 60% cost and 40% profit. The way I see it,you spend about 3.36 million credits on the FPneeded to get to Colonel, and I intend to make back my money. If a customer balks, I can tell him "Sure, I'll sell you the FP at my cost... but the transfer rate for a Private" and see if they prefer that rate...
Simply put, the customer is paying for more than just the faction points - they're paying me because they need someone to obtain and transfer those points. This was an ability I obtained at a significant expense. Stingy customers will always try to convince me that they "know a guy" who sells them for 100cr per... I ask "well then, why didn't you buy from him?" The answer is invariably "he's not on right now." Of course he isn't... so you're paying for convenience. I may set a somewhat lower price for large transfers or repeat customers, and of course I'm not out to make a profit off my friends. But I've actually met people who ask if I can "spare 3000 faction" which to me is no different than begging for a quarter million credits. And I'm not going to do it just because they're a "fellow Imperial" because Imperials (or those wishing to become one) are the only people to whom my product/service is useful. My time is valuable to me, I don't waste a lot of it trying to undersell myself and I don't let the customer determine what it's worth. If the impression the customer gives me is that they feel my time isn't very valuable, they are invited to look elsewhere. I'm sure that somewhere, there's a fool working too hard for 14 cr per point profit, wondering why they're so poor and not realizing that they'll have to sell 240,000 fp before they break even on their ownFP investment.
I used to have them but apparently they decided to leave without a trace.
It's not in the new (huge) smuggler faq, nor the important links guide either, at least not that I can find.
