Being a Smuggler since the second month of this game, I've like many of you have seen the changes, revemps that never happen, ect ect, you know where I'm going with this.

But what I can't understand, and mabey someone can help me out here is In SOE's point of view.

How is this new system of slicing an improvement from the old?

1. Can't make slicing tools for myself nor upcomming Smugglers, something I did with pride to help out the grinding smugglers with reasonable priced tools.

2. All tools are looted form...Bounty Hunters? (how does this relate to us?)

I guess being able to choose speed and damage is a step in the right direction, but for that step forward I see it as three steps back.

If anyone can see a bright side of this issue please let me know what it is.

I'm really looking hard for a reason to remain a smuggler.

Not all tools are looted exclusively by BH.

I've gotten them from NPC's in a variety of places - even in space.

The thing that gets me is that I don't feel like I help as much as I did pre CU. Everyone usually loots all the slicing tools themselves, which some can be hard to find. Then all I have to do is push a few buttons for them, I don't feel as worthy of a tip as I did before. So basically I feel "used" cause I don't deserve much of a tip but everyone needs me to slice their stuff.

Well for one the novice smuggler no longer needs to SLICE anything to get better at slicing, they removed slice xp from our list of MUSTHAVES now all a novice needs is pistol XP Combat XP and unarmedXP for the prerequisites, wich is, in it self a problem, but whatever sony's gona do what sony dose, so without need for slice XP the novice dosent need slice tools to go up the slice branch, somehow shooting bole bols and kimogillas teaches you how to modify weapons and armor.

What would a Krayt be doing with a delicate trigger? I didn't even think they knew how to use pointed sticks as weapons. They don't have opossable thumbs for God's Sake!

Yeah, that's always bugged me too... I mean, firstly, lets assume that the Krayt Dragon got the Delicate Trigger Assembly from eating someone - only plausible explaination I know of...

The trigger assembly is delicate, obviously... in Krayt Dragon stomach acid for who knows how long... nevermind, it's Dev logic...

Perhaps, knowing it was delicate, it ate everything BUT the delicate trigger assembly. Then, knowing it was delicate, picked it up and wrapped it bubble wrap. He then proceeded to tuck it behind his ear and then jump on the remaining bubble wrap in a festive manner, all the way to the middle of my city, where he constantly chases the crafters in my guild who then send me tells to come kill it.

what's funny, is how during the slicing changes on TC, when they were only dropping off of uh, what was it like, Deathwatch? someone suggested Krayts as a drop for high end tools, and the specific response from the Devs was, "I don't know how long a Delicate Trigger Assembly would last inside a Krayt."

See i dont much mind the new system but i understand the loss of feeling worthy of payment. Now you just get paid based on how much certain parts cost to buy. I think when the time comes the slicing components NEED to be used in Smuggling missions as loot drops and rewards. They did mention Slicing missions so i'd assume thats where we'ed get the parts. But then it never pays to assume to much. The devs could turn around and say "we dont have time to do the smuggler updates". I pray they dont cause that'd be it man, WAR lol

How about this. It ties into future contant. Since we are destined to be pitted against BH's in the future why not get a reward to stand and fight once in awile.

There's only one reason they gave the slice loots to the BH's. They were too rare, and they were getting to be worth a LOT. SOE didn't want to redo the loot tables for the rest of the game, so a dev that was doing some adjustments to BH loot went ahead and made them common on those. Good and bad... they are more common now, so prices have went down on the higher end stuff, but at the same time, BH made a killing on those things when they first started getting them.

The only reason they redid the slicing system was because the old system was broken under the post-CU era. If it hadn't of been for the CU, they would have probably left it alone. I wish they would have left it alone too, but then again I was "on leave" during the post CU, pre slicing change era.

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.
