Alright peeps, lets get this started. Every smuggler's pad should be decked out according to taste, and taste is something that will vary with Underworld types. I will break down into 4 'taste' classes...you may fit into one, or more than one, or none at all. Either way, this is an interactive guide, so feel free to add your own styles and thoughts.

STYLE 1: The Classy Smuggler

I have taste, I have money, velvet ropes part and champagne falls from the sky. My Guild hall on Naboo is decked out like an aristocrat's castle.

That's the definitive Classy Smuggler. Think Castor Troy from 'Face Off' when you think of this type of Smuggler. All of the furniture in this pad will have 'matching' themes, lots of glass tabletops, and artsy-fartsy stuff hanging on the walls (like the annoying 'golden petals'). One of the rooms will be for clothes only (aligned neatly to look as if hanging on racks), and the dining room will actually LOOK COMFY!

I've seen Classy Smuggler pads that have tailors make them red Mayoral robes to hang like curtains and bunting on the rim of their ceiling (a nice touch). Classic wooden bookcases, the blue 'comfy' chairs, and an occasional divan in a side/dressing room are nice touches.

All special items are displayed inconspicuously, yet with taste. The rare items are not the focus of the room, the way everything BLENDS is.

The Classy Smuggler should have a 'spare no expense' attitude when it comes to their pad. Only the best will do.

Preferred house style: Nabooian (for that Classic Rennaissance look)

Preferred furniture style: Anything wooden for cabinetry/bookcases, and anything 'plush' or 'comfy' for seating. Marble dining table and chairs for the Banquet Hall.

Preferred art style: Abstract (Freedom, Golden Petal, Mon Cal eye, Blumbush)

STYLE 2: The Roguish Smuggler

Secretive, deadly, and private, the Roguish Smuggler's pad screams "DO NOT ENTER" with every item in view.

This style fits my personality. When entering the pad of a Rogue, expect to see lots of weapons hanging on the wall, strange items hanging about, and virtually no furniture. It's like walking into a madman's cave, only your fascination has overcome your sense of impending doom.

With RotW, there's MANY new items that can be used to add 'spice' to your Roguish pad. Such as:

--Human Skulls: Yes, the Unsor'is in the Myyydril Caverns will drop human skulls, as well as other skeletal body parts (arms, legs). Having a pile of skulls sitting in your main room is usually a sign that visitors aren't welcome. This look can also be used by Smuggler/BHs, as they can line a shelf with skulls, denoting their 'kills'.

--Mobiles: The Kerritamba Village quests (Dead Forest) will give 2 Mobiles (you know, those spinny things you hang over a kid's bed). One is a 'prayer mobile' that is very tribal, and the other is a Sayormi mobile that has a skull with arrowheads hanging off of it. Both look good hanging in the hallway of a Corellian, Generic, or Tatooine house (haven't tried them in the Nabooian houses).

--Bottles: Various colorful bottles can be found on the Sayormi. These look good scattered about on tables.

Preferred house style: Tatooinian

Preferred furniture style: Cheap, if any. Cafe tables, wooden chairs scattered about haphazardly, toolchests, hides on the floor for 'carpeting'...etc.

Preferred art style: Dark (Wanted posters, weaponry, 'strange' stuff)

STYLE 3: The Chemist

If it gives you a buzz, I can make it. If you need it to work 'better', I can tweak it. I'm the Candy Man.....

Chemists (for lack of a better term) really get into their illegal activities. I have seen chemists take the Doctor/Combat Medic tree just to get themselves a Hospital to turn into their 'lab'. While this may sound a bit overboard, it has GREAT role-play opportunities. In the Chemist's pad you'll find:

--Resource containers: Stacked on top of each other, in a back/storage room. Usually arranged by type. Chemists tend to be very meticulous.

--Bacta Tank: For some reason, I know 2 Chemists who have either done the Village quests themselves or purchased Bacta Tanks. They call it their 'still'. It's a nice touch, but very rare.

--Crates of Spice: Stacked floor to ceiling, arranged nicely. Ready for shipment and distribution.

Preferred house style: Generic/Corellian ('sanitary' looking)...sometimes a Hospital for the true 'lab' look.

Preferred furniture style: Efficient. White bookcases, clean chests, metal chairs.

Preferred art style: Biologic (Bio-Eng posters, Architectural blueprints, etc.)

STYLE 4: The Collector

I've seen all there is to see in this galaxy, kid. I've been from Keren to Kessel, Tatooine to Talus. If there's some rare, mysterious item out there, I can find it, I have it, or I'll be damn sure I can buy it. Hey, get off that orange rug, you know how many Meatlumps I had to shake down to get that???

While there is a bit of collector in all of us, the Smuggler Collector will usually go to lengths to not only obtain those rare items, but prominently display them in his museum-like home. While this theme is the simplest to explain, it is definitely the hardest to do right. Some people use tables and lighting to display their rarities, while some will dedicate whole rooms to 'themes' ('rare weapon room', 'trophy hunter head room', etc...).

If you are a Collector, you most certainly have so many items, you cannot fit them all in one (or if you're like me, two or three) house(s). Therefore, the Collector must select his most 'precious' items to display, and display them with taste and style. Using the loot-only streetlights (the schems that drop), you can get small, unobtrusive lights that can be placed behind items to give them a luminous aura. Some ideas:

--Bubble Tank: Trademark of the Underworld. If you can get your hands on one (or more), place it in your den next to a very comfortable-looking chair, with an ottoman.

--Gaming Table: Put this in your den also, where it looks as if it can be easily reached by all sitting in the room. If that is not your centerpiece, place it off to the side, in a corner, with some wooden cafe chairs around it.

--Tanned hide: While a bit gruff, this will still go well with the 'Indiana Jones' style of Collecting. Usually compliments skulls (krayt, trophy hunter, etc).

--Rare Weapons: Keep these together, preferably on a plain wall (for ease of viewing). Do NOT put damaged weapons on a wall, that looks tacky...try to get them fixed first...Collectors COLLECT, not use and hang up

--Suits of Armor: Only do this in an LARGE room, as they tend to take up space. Clutter is NOT key. Only display quest-or-rare suits (Clone armor, Bounty Hunter armor, etc.)...you shouldn't have a set of Ubese and Composite on your wall, no matter how 'uber' the stats are...

Preferred house style: Any. If possible, Cantinas work really, REALLY good for this.

Preferred furniture style: Varied. You're a Collector, don't stick with one style. Eclectic is good.

Preferred art style: Rare (VICTORY, Freedom, No Division, the Teras Kasi paintings). The housing and ship paintings also go nice (Blue Leaf Temple, Corellian building blueprint, and of course the Krayt Skeleton).

IN CLOSING

This isn't a comprehensive list, but a starting point for discussion. Share your ideas, your styles. Help people find that 'cool thing' they've been looking to do with their pad.

We're smugglers, we're each UNIQUE in our ways, but our style should speak volumes about who we are.

I hope I was able to give you some insight and decorating tips. I'll share more as I find them

I set up a bordello/shisha-den/casino near my house.

Casino on the ground level with my office off to the side, bordello upstairs and the shisha den in the basement.

Of course nothing in it is in any way functional but it amuses me.

I'm the collector type with a dash of rouge. However my home was quite hard to decorate. I litteraly live in my YT-1300. All my stuff is either there, on my person, or in my bank account. I like to keepthe look of an effienct transport pilot. Int he forward section of my ship I have the lounge/ passanger area which gets a lot of work out with RotW. I have a techincal station I made out of the Tech console and the YT Hologram sitting on top (this looks freaking cool) I also have some small cantina seats and 3 of the curved YT-1300 lounge seat I've managed to collect from friends around a gameing table with a radar screen in front.

In the right cargo hold I have the sleeping section. I made 3 bunk bends curving aroudn the wall and a medical station with droid on the flat wall.

In the left cargo hold I have.... well Cargo. All my junk is there arragned so it actually looks like it been correctly packed and stowed. Other than that I have an R2 unitfixing some wires across from the turret ladder because I'ev had a lot fo probelms with new people not finding the turrets.

Some point in the future I may get a small house and fill it with crates of spice for my guild but eh I likes what I's gots

Hmmmmm.... I dunno... my smugglertopia is a large Nabooian house that I've been turning into a tavern. Two bars, a dining area, a lounge on the third floor, my office on the second. Krayted renegades strategically stashed. art and trophies everywhere.

I suppose it's um, classy on the surface, with a roguish cream filling.

I really enjoyed reading this guide. Thanks for writing it.

I personally fit into the collector catagory although I roleplay the classy type whenever possible. I'll have to rethink my funriture selections.

My home is a tatooine guild hall because I love the room layout and nothing says wealth like a guild hall for a house. I pride myself as an art collector. My main room is model around the metropolitan museam of art in new york. It has many paintings lining the walls and the center space is a cultural homage to tatooine where I live. The Krayt skull and painting, a full tusken raider outfit, a sun symbol, tatooine banners, tusken skins, and the bol skull hunter's trophy topped off with a bantha statue and some torches for ambiance. I have a meditation/relaxation room that has the entire JTL painting collection and is lit with a lytus family artifact. (I really love those cause they throw off a soothing blue ambient light) I'll need to upgrade the furniture there and add the bowl. The other main decorated room, is my "talon karrde suite"... its all set up with imperial items, wanted posters and computer consoles to look like an intellegence ease dropping and covert ops room.
