Thread: I have 1 concern before slicing goes live.

1st I'd like to say that I trust most everyone here...

But I feel I should point out that if ADK weapons will also be 'broken' occasionally, they will need to be traded to smugglers.

Now ADKs are a hot Item, they go for around 6 Million on some servers. I am 100% positive that there will be griefers out there who probly won't even be smugglers yelling at the starport "I fix your gunz!!1!1!" so that they have the opportunity to walk off with someones ADK.

I'm thinking we should be able to repair Weapons Via the Trade window to prevent this kind of grief.

(if this issue has already been addressed somehow I retract my concern)

Easy solution... don't hand an ADK'ed weapon over to a Smuggler that you don't know and/or trust.

Seriously... that would just be stupid.

I agree, very griefable system, and a CSR's nightmare.

I know, really thought a "slice and repair via a new UI working a bit like the trade window" thing would be seen. Ah well.

That hadn't even crossed my mind yet. My regulars won't have an issue handing over ADK'd weapons, but with the value of those things... I could see a good many not being so trustworthy.

As far as I'm aware, CSR's will return any stolen items provided that the transaction (terms and agreement) is recorded from spatial (from what I've heard, you can't record tells).. This is done by using the /report playername command.. This logs the last 100 lines of text.. It's a somewhat troublesome workaround, but at least it's something...

*edit*

Decided to dig up the specifics from the Reimbursement Policy:

Trades

Trades are any items, control devices, or credits that are placed into the secure trade window and purposely given to another player (by mutual agreement between the two involved players), regardless of the intent behind the trade.
Items traded to or sold to other players intentionally or accidentally may be reimbursed after an investigation and at the discretion of a CSR. (Note: CSR's may not assist with any trade disputes. All trades are considered final.)
Note: Trade scams are not permitted in Star Wars Galaxies. Trade scammers may have disciplinary action taken against their account in the form of a warnings, suspensions, and even termination of all SOE services. If you would like to provide evidence of a trade scam based on an agreement with another player, then we ask that you please use the /report command to record the last 100 lines of text from your chat window, which will be logged directly to our systems. This log will only be accessible to the CSRs. To submit an in-game report type /report. For example, if you are trading with John, type "/report John."
If you are in fact scammed and need assistance from a CSR, then please request in-game assistance using the Customer Service Interface in-game and submit a ticket at that time

With all the time they took to implement this... yeah I kinda made the assumption that the ID style interface was going to be the way to go in order to cut down on the CS hassle of trading your goods to someone you may not know as well as making it a little more attractive and interactive on their part. I mean we have to confrim our looks through a ID interface... shouldn't a slicing customer be able to see the effect on the weapon before we modify it?

Yeah, I see where you are coming from. The thing is that on many servers in some locations the spam is so bad that a large portion of people prefer to use tells leaving them open to issues.

One of the 2 reason I only slice for guild mates now. The other is obvious for any experienced smuggler

They should probably implement something similar to the image designing system.. but for now, people who don't want to lose their ADK'd weapon probably wouldn't mind going somewhere quiet to conduct business... We shouldn't be doing slices out in the open anyway..

That's the best explanation I have heard for it. It makes sense and well, you should be trusting your best with you most trusted blackmarket person.
